Hello everybody! My name is Gary and I am originally from St. Louis but have been in the Ozarks now for about 5 years. I decided two months ago to take up fly fishing again after about a 30 year break. No excuses, just got too busy and finally saw the light. When I was a teen ager I fly fished for pan fish and bass. Now I mainly have been fishing for trout in upper Lake Taneycomo and Bennett Springs. Really enjoying it especially when they rise to take my dry fly offerings. I want to thank all the experienced anglers for making these forums a daily visit as I fire up the laptop and learn more about trout fishing.

I fished yesterday for the first time in the Winter Catch and Release program and thoroughly enjoyed it! The weather was in the mid 40's and only saw about 10 anglers. I caught 3 rainbows on the surface with a Renegade (one on my first cast just above the dam in in zone 1, then took about an hour to get two more just below the dam in zone 2. Went to a gray scud and caught 5 more in then next 2 hours. Had a great time!

Thanks for all the hints and advice! I used to fly fish for panfish as a teenager but that was a long time ago. Have been practicing my casting so hopefully all will go well.

I have used an ultra light spinning rig at Bennett Springs and finally decided to get a fly rod. What advice would you give me for the first time to use it a Bennett Springs. Hope to go next week. Specifically wanted to know which zone would be best to start on and what type of approach, dry flies, midges, streamers, etc. Thanks!
