Any updates on ice at the ramps would be much appreciated. I am vacationing down there starting next weekend. Need to know weather to bring the boat or the 4 wheeler. Can't pull both.
On a side note - we are catching crappies through the ice up here in the Des Moines area. Worth a day trip for those interested.
We were able to catch a couple keeper bass during about an hour of fishing Saturday afternoon. The key was finding the warmer water in the protected coves. 58 degrees seemed to be the magic temp. Both were caught on lipless cranks along the flooded brush line. Shad were very active in these areas. Both fish were bulging with shad belly.
We saw over 2 dozen turkeys coming in to roost late that evening. Several were flying over the tree tops - very cool.
