  1. I got out for 4 hrs sunday. I got on the water around 12:30. I know i am crazy! I put in up river i knew better than to try the main lake. I fished where i could mainly behind the big hills. I caught 16 with 9 keepers. Biggest was 5.2. Top 5 would hit 18lbs. I fished a jig where i could. Too windy for jig most places so i was throwing square bill or blades. Had some good 3 and 4's on both. I knew they would bite if i could get to them. A full moon in November is always good. I wish the wind would have been manageable. I could have hit them hard all weekend. I saw 2 other boats. I guess i am not the only carzy person. Be safe.
  2. Sorry to hear that, Marty. I agree we all need to look out for each other. It is getting the time of year that the ramps are not a busy and it is easier for the low-life's strike. On a lighter note... How was the fishing??
  3. I will be hitting the water bright and early Sat morning. I am heading up the river to flip the wood. Any one else heading out?
  4. Blue Cat, the laydowns are usually better than the standing timber. I was fishing just off the bank 3 to 5 ft. They were in tight to the wood.
  5. I wasn't way up. Just where there was good wood. Had to be close to deep water.
  6. I headed out early Sat. morning, brr cold ride across the lake, spent some time around mid-lake early throwing a square bill. I caught several shorts and only had one keeper by 9:30 am. I decided to head up the river and see what was going on, the water always cools faster up the creeks and rivers. I started down a channel bank with the square bill still catching shorts. I pick up plastic and started flipping wood. It only took 2 flips and 3.5 pounder a few minutes later I broke off a 5 +. Upgraded to heavier pool with 17 lbs test and kept flipping. I caught 4 or 5 more in the 3 to 4 range. It was high noon and I had to get home, the sweety's parents were having a get together. Went back out Sunday afternoon around 3:00. Fish were biting much better than Sat. morning, could catch lots of small ones on crankbait with a keeper here and there. I was getting several quality fish 4 to 5 by flipping the wood. The water is not real clear and the fish are were shallow. I wasn't fishing over 8 ft deep. Most were in the 3 to 5 ft range. They were really tight to the wood. If you didn't flip right next to the wood you wouldn't get a bite. Heavy line a must. I broke off twice with 17 lb test they are deep in the stuff. Most were caught on banks with the channel swinging close. Best bait for flipping was a shad colored beaver tail. The fall feeding frenzy has begun get out there and get guys. Happy Fishing!!
  7. Last weekend i found some crappie up shallow looking to spawn. The bite was short lived, late Saturday evening and the first 2 hours Sunday morning. I was up the river and found one pocket that was 60 degrees sat afternoon. You had to let you jig sink to the bottom and hop it to get a bite, color didn't matter. Crappie nibblets (ie: Crappie crack) helped you get bit. I will be back this weekend hope they are still there. The water was pretty muddy up the there. Good Luck Guys!!
