  1. White River at Elkins is nearly bank full and very muddy again this morning. It had fallen considerably as of yesterday evening and was beginning to clear. More trash and silt coming down into Beaver Lake.
  2. It is difficult to keep trolled baits free of debris even around 12 bridge and Prairie Creek now. There is so much loose grass suspended in the water you end up with a big string of it on the lure every five to 10 minutes. Frustrating for trolling, as I doubt fish would often hit a fouled lure.
  3. The Corps should make the entire PC cove west of the marina a no wake zone IMO.
  4. Does anyone have ideas or experiences to share?
  5. If there is room in Table Rock, the Corps will try hard to keep Beaver well under 1130. Once it hits 1130, there is no flood protection for points immediately downstream, including Holiday Island and several river side homes in the event of a substantial rain over the Beaver watershed. In any event, the current runoff is not enough to go past 1128, considering all the spreading the lake does on the river end. The rise from 1125 to 1128 is amazing a couple of miles upstream from Blue Springs, as it becomes a very spread out lake there instead of a bank full river.
  6. With Table Rock almost at normal power pool, and Bull Shoals not super high, the Corps likely won't let Beaver get to 1130 unless there is a huge rain event like 2011. I look for them to open the flood gates some if it hits 1128.
  7. The White River at Elkins is up about 7 feet since yesterday evening, and is very muddy and debris laden. Still about 4 feet lower than last week's crest, and out of banks in a few places. Upper watershed received more rain than Fayetteville.
  8. 2.4 inches in my gauge at Elkins.
  9. I have been told crappie are scattered and around 20 feet deep in 30 fow around Prairie Creek. There is so much loose grass in the water that trolling is difficult, at least for me.
  10. He sent a huge roller toward my smallish boat and I had to turn into it to avoid taking on water. He would run at the speed where he was dragging and not quite on plane.
  11. I saw that survey boat near Prairie Creek yesterday.
  12. I wonder how this new water will affect the crappie and white bass spawns? They spawned and then the water deepened over the sites and in some cases became very muddy. Do newly hatched fry fare well under these conditions?
  13. I read on another forum about a dock owner (not here) yelling at fishermen and threatening them when they cast near his dock. He was going to install motion activated water sprinklers. The thread ended without stating a resolution.
  14. Signs say "no boating" not "no wake". They are trying to keep fishermen away from their private fishing holes on public waters. If they can enforce that, next they will say no boats except owners in the whole cove.
  15. On Beaver Reservoir in Arkansas.
  16. I got waked a couple times today by a Survey Crew boat. I think it said Lakemaster on it.
  17. I noticed these signs on several docks to the west of the Prairie Creek Marina. It is NOT the law. These dock owners cannot stop fishermen from fishing close to the docks without actually touching the docks. They do not own the water. These signs are only a scare tactic.

I fished at PC today. No reportable catch except one big female bluegill (released) after 3 hours trolling Flicker Shad and then throwing crappie jigs. So much loose grass is in the water it is hard to keep the trolled baits clean. The upper end around 412 bridge is messed up really bad. Chocolate milk water and logs and debris piles floating around there. War Eagle Creek is very muddy too, so I think the chocolate milk goes past HC, but it was not yet to 12 bridge this afternoon. Upper end won't be fishable for at least a couple of weeks. The forecast says more rain may be coming.

    Heavy Rain

The upper end at least to War Eagle (probably further down) is terrible. Chocolate milk water laden with logs and drift piles seen near 412 bridge (from shore). No way I would put a boat in that soup.
  20. 1125.7 with new rain.
  21. Here is Lake Sequoyah Spillway today shortly after noon.

    Heavy Rain

It crested (I hope) about 10 A.M. today nearly a foot higher than my picture.

    Heavy Rain

No, It's the small bridge on Mount Olive Road on the SE side of Elkins. 74 Bridge has never been under as far as I know. Here's a picture of the White River at Elkins City Park this morning. There is an 8 foot bluff under water toward the middle left of the picture. The bushes sit on top of the bluff.

    Heavy Rain

White River is over the Mount Olive Road at Elkins. Very muddy and debris filled. Expect the mudline to go way down the lake, possibly past 12 bridge.

    Heavy Rain

Major creek and river flooding now underway on the southeast side of Fayetteville. Very muddy flows. Extremely dangerous, debris filled currents with large logs and entire dead trees.
