  1. Ended up going around 1pm to 8pm, and yea it was prettttyy windy. But we managed to catch four between us. I caught both of mine on a blue and silver crankbait, retrieving kinda slow with a twitch here and there. My buddy caught his on a white top water frog. No pictures but they were nice size fish, especially the one caught on the frog. We put in at the lake access parking lot and headed towards 65, caught all our fish in one of the coves. Good day. PS: Does anyone know how to get to the trail that goes through the back of the cove closes to the main lake? It has bridges that go of the river and everything. (If that makes sense)
  2. My buddy and me are taking the Yaks out Saturday, debating on what to fish. I was thinking about going from 65 towards the main lake but was also thinking maybe fishing the main lake (flats and such). Any suggestions? Also if anyone is out on Saturday evening, don't be afraid to say hi, we'll be in some FS10 kayaks (green/black and then grey/black).
  3. Haha sounds about like my luck when I started fishing SPF Lake. I hear alot of people use shrimp with the shell on to catch little ones and then if you want big budda, fish with little perch about 3 inch long. Have you tried SPF Lake yet? I've heard nothing but bad things about fellows, and having to pay to get a boat on it, I'm probably never gonna go out there.
  4. ^ I was wondering the same thing. My dad is a game warden on Fort Leonard Wood and I was telling him about some of the BS that happens at Lake Springfield about people keeping protected length FEMALE WITH EGGS bass from under 60 bridge and he was shaking his head. I was wondering if they have any type of agent of game warden out there. It's a shame if they don't.
  5. Thanks for the advice. Next time I head out there I think I'm gonna try some different types of soft plastics, brushhogs and worms and see if I do any better. My arsenal is kind of limited at the moment, being I'm a spinner/crank kinda guy. What do you mean by thread fin population though fisher?
  6. Planning on going catfishin since the bass fishing right now isn't treating me too well. Was thinking about going to the bridge with rock bank on both sides on Fellows, one close to the little dock (not marina). I've never fished there before but I scouted it yesterday and it looks like it should be good. Any advice before I go?
  7. New to the forum here, but been fishing since I was a kid at Lake of The Ozarks. I can't seem to master Lake Springfield. Mainly James River by 65 bridge. I have tried every lure, color, speed, cove, brush pile, bank and I can't consistently catch nice bass. So I'm wondering what other people are throwing, working, and where they recommend fishing. If its your secret then by all means keep it, but if anyone is willing to help a fellow fisherman out, I would love it. Past couple of days I've fishing from 65 bridge towards the main lake using mostly bright spinners, retrieving really slow. I've also tried some bass colored crankbaits, again bringing them back real slow. I've had some luck on the cranks but not much. Sorry for the novel and thank you for any help!
