  1. Well that's more info than I had! I appreciate your response. I would hate to get up there and be really disappointed! I may go up there Saturday and see what's going on. If I do I'll post my results on this thread.
  2. Let me preface this by saying that I haven't been to Aldrich in a while! Ok disclaimer out of the way, does anyone know if you can get to the mouth of the river from Aldrich in a boat other than a flat bottom right now? I know the water is extremely low and it isn't that deep all the way across that flat to begin with! Just curious if anyone has tried it recently and what their success/failure amounted to. The second part of this post, has anyone been catching any real numbers of whites around Aldrich maybe from the bridge downlake? Any reports from that area would be greatly appreciated!
  3. If I'm not mistaken its a hickory shad.
  4. Clay, thanks for the info! I've been tying lots of jigs mainly sculpin and ginger, straight ginger, and a nice burnt orange. I've been catching the crap out of fish on Taneycomo and I can't wait for the White! Only 7 more days! I'll try and post a report from our trip and hopefully some pics as well. Thanks again.
  5. It was on Sunday afternoon. All of the gates were locked.
  6. One more question/statement. I've been reading about zigjigs and they look awesome. I tie all of my own for Taney, and I want to know where down there I can buy them. I want to support a business like that and also want to know which are the "best" colors/weight. Thanks! Also on a side note, thank you guys for being so helpful. On the Table Rock forum you get beat up and made to feel like an idiot for asking questions!
  7. Clay, thanks for the info! I'll be taking my boat and will try that stretch for sure! That's a great fish and I would love to catch one or two like it! We've gone down there for the past few years and love it. Thanks again!
  8. You guys are too funny. Thanks for the advice and help!
  9. Great! Thanks for the input! We always catch quite a few but I like the technique more than powerbait and rooster tails!
  10. I'm going to be staying at Buffalo City in early March. I have been catching a lot of fish on marabou jigs on Taneycomo all fall and winter and I was wondering if this is a good tactic on the white. I'm not looking for honey holes or top secret stuff, I would just appreciate some input about it! I hate that I only get to come down for a weekend each year and I hate going in "blind".
  11. I agree with terrierman. Take them to branson campground and sit on the bank or dock if available. Use powerbait eggs and a spilt shot or two depending on water flow, and I will garuntee you WILL catch some nice rainbows. Also, if you get bored you can show them the sights in branson. Just my two cents. Good luck! Post the results of this fishing "expedition"!
  12. Cool! Thanks for all the info. I may see you up there at the next one.
  13. That would be great smbasser. I could easily rig a good "livewell" to keep bass alive. Hopefully everyone could refrain from snickering when I launch my v bottom! Also, that's a good survival rate on those fish. I hate to see good bass go belly up. They aren't the best tasting fish in the lake, but its a shame to see them floating in the water after a tournament. I think with a lot of corn meal and hot grease they'd probably be ok! Thanks for being helpful.
  14. What are the regulations as far as boat/motor sizes? I have all the confidence in the world to tournament fish, but just don't have a big bass boat (YET)!! I would love to see a tournament where aluminum boats with 25hp or bigger were allowed! My dad used to use a huge igloo cooler rigged with an aerator for his livewell. But as the years went on, most tournaments seemed like they only allowed 40hp or bigger to fish in them.
  15. Well that's more information than I knew yesterday! Thanks for posting that info. I do like fishing for walleye, they are delicious! It's kinda fun to learn/ fish these smaller lakes that we have in this area of the world. I live in Springfield, and fish Stockton, Table Rock and Bull Shoals quite a bit, but find it fun to roadtrip to other smaller lakes! Opportunities abound here in the great state of Missouri! Feel free to pm me with other info or please post ANY trips you make to these other awesome lakes. Good Fishing!
  16. Good report! Have you fished at Hazel Creek any? I will be going up to Kirksville soon to fish Hazel Creek and possibly Thousand Hills. Any idea of the structure and if there is any timber in Thousand Hills? Hazel Creek looks good from the bank, with lots of timber and lily pads to throw a frog around for some good bass! I've also heard of Forrest lake but haven't done much research on it. I'm planning a 3 or 4 day weekend to go up there and fish all three lakes if possible! Any advice would be much appreciated!!
  17. I fished out of Joe bald yesterday post storm and it was somewhat slow for me. Most of the fish I caught were on Shakey head and spooks. Up until dark when I got on a dynamite jig bite. Also caught fish on a single spin up shallow on chunk rock with some brush in the water. Probably only boated 15-20 with 6 or 7 keepers. It seemed like to me they just weren't eating my spook or Shakey head like earlier in the week. Probably missed 20 of the fastest bites I've seen in a while. Hope this helps. Good luck!
  18. Thanks for that report! I'm going to make it up there early June from Springfield. Please post some more reports if you go again! I've never fished there, but I can't wait! Hopeful of catching some big bass!
  19. I'm in for a marina cove fishing party!!
  20. Vernon, thanks u so much for all of that info! I am starting to use the Ned rig a little here and there. It seems like an interesting technique. I fished out of Bridgeport yesterday and we had lots of jig fish and LOTS of spinnerbait fish also. Most fish were in that 13-15" range with a couple kickers. Can you advise on a good senko brand/color for the Ned? Also, what kind of banks and structure make you think the Ned should be applicable?
  21. Good! Thanks for the report! What's the water temp average?
  22. Any reports out of Indian? I'm thinking of going this weekend mainly curious of the water temp. Any help would be appreciated!
  23. WOW cabinman! The stories keep coming!! I couldn't believe the behavior I experienced, your experience is just as crappy as I've heard yet! You would think they are protecting the most awesome fishery in this area!! In my opinion its not even close! I wish people could be a little nicer to those who patronize that marina.
  24. Just curious if anyone was fishing this lake much, and if so what are the conditions. Any success?
