  1. I am in if it is allowed, may be a good idea to shoot mdc an email and make sure there isn't a permit requirement and if the city has to approve it or not seeing as it is a city lake. It would definitely be a lot of fun!
  2. Went to fellows last sunday to fish for crappie with my father in law, caught a mix bag of whites walleye and several nice crappie. Crappie were on brush in 20' to 24' of water, caught them on minnows and some on jigs. Went out this morning to go after the crappie one last time before I put the boat to bed until spring and had some luck again, caught crappie on the same piles with a mix of bobby garland baby shad and tube jigs, bit is very light and had to fish pretty well vertical just letting the wind drift the boat around the pile. Water temp both last sunday and today was 62 to 64 degrees. Going to be a nice weekend and the water temp is still good, get out and get some this weekend before it turns off cold!!!
  3. Yes I am fishing in a boat with electronics. I always fish the south side of the lake but I am going to try the north side next trip out. I went tonight and they are still on piles and we caught them on minnows, no bites on the jigs tonight. Try looking at this map, there are several piles in the coves west of the boat ramp that my be able to be bank fished. http://egis.mdc.mo.gov/statewidefishattractors/index.html You have to zoom in above springfield this is a state wide map but it is a good map. Hope it helps
  4. Fellows crappie are on fire right now! Caught a limit yesterday and 20+ today but didnt keep any since I have plenty in the deep freezer. All keepers were in the 10" to 11" range, caught a handfull of fish yesterday and today that went over 13" and one that was 15 1/2". All the big ones went back, no need to keep them when there are so many 10 and 11" fish, turn those big ones free! All fish both days were caught in brushpiles with tube jigs and minnows with minnows being the most productive. When i say fishing brush I mean you have to actually be in the brush with weedless jigheads, I tried a slip float above them and tried to tight line over the top of the piles but they seem to want it in the brush, if I wasnt bumping brush on my retrieve I wouldnt catch fish. Get out and get in on the action, fishing should be hot through first part of september!
  5. Went out today, crappie are still deep and hard to catch the water was between 55 and 57 degrees before noon when I got off the water. Switched to bass fishing half way through the morning, they are biting pretty good. Caught a lot of males up shallow and by shallow I mean less than 2' of water. They seemed to be on pea gravel crusing around probably look to make beds, for the most part I was sight fishing for them with a texas rig worm but I caught a few running the banks with spinnerbaits. Hope that helps
  6. Not moving up yet, i was up there monday and the water is still 45 to 46 degrees.
  7. Sounds like you are doing pretty good out there! Me and a buddy are going to try to head out there tomorrow afternoon if the roads and ramp are clear. We are going to try the whites, I saw in another thread you were hitting them 50-60 feet down with spoons so that what we are going to try that. We will search the deep areas of the lake looking for bait and drop in below them. Is there any part of the lake in particular you have had more luck at, any help would be much appreciated!
  8. Here is a map that mdc has on their sight, it is a topo map that also has the location of the brush piles that have been placed around the lake. http://mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/resources/2010/05/2011_fellows__brochure.pdf
  9. The catfishing is very good on fellows during the summer, make sure you dont run any limb or jug lines though! They are not allowed at fellows lake.
  10. Good deal! They are really bitting good, I was up friday evening and caught 11 crappie and 1 white, went back sunday morning and caught 15 nice crappie in 2 hours trolling crankbaits and spinners in 10' of water. They sure are fun to catch, and taste good too!!! Keep after them man
  11. Hello I am new to the forum. Figured I would give a fishing report for Fellows. I fished it 2 sundays in a row now, in the morning yesterday and the evening the sunday before and caught a lot of fish. We caught several nice bluegills and a few white bass last sunday evening. Went out yesterday to target the white bass I found the weekend before and me and my buddy hammered them, he had 11 in his cooler and I had 14 in mine. We caught everything both weekends on very small crainkbaits along the banks of the south arm for the bluegills and then out in the middle of one cove on the south arm for the whites which were schooling baitfish at the surface. All in all a great couple of days, I am going back on the morning of the 4th and getting after them again so I will let everyone know if the bite is still hot.
