Thanks for the replies. I'm sure that spring would be the best time to float it, but, of course, I didn't really think about it till hot hot summer. I've duck hunted in the area of turnback but only the lake side of the bridge, but I usually do my fishing on the sons creek side and other than driving over the bridge from Springfield, don't know much about the fishing . Hear it's good for eyes in the spring, but never seem to get over there. I am more concerned of how long of a float that would be. I'm sure it doesn't take more than one day, and probably isn't more than an afternoon, but I'd hate to get started and get surprised. I'd be taking my son(16) and he's never floated before. I don't mind a bit of portaging, but it looks pretty clear on satellite maps and pics and it would give us something new to do together. I've floated Spring River and the Buffalo River in Arkansas, but those were years ago and I'm a bit rusty and don't want to undertake anything that might get us in a bad situation. Anyways, thanks for the earlier replies and for any more that might follow.
