  1. Fun day fishing yesterday; 10 rock bass, 1 14 in. Kentucky, 4 smallies (1-15 in.), and a couple large mouth dinks. All the females we caught were about ready to pop. Water was about 50-55 degrees. Water was still just a bit fast but with fishing we were on the water for 9 hours, even at 400 cf/s. Float was intermediate and challenging, specifically about a mile down from Allen Bridge. There are some trees down and had to float with the kyaks in one spot. Water temp let you know you were alive.
  2. *Update* The float was fantastic. Water was moving fast, but perfect for kayaking. The water temp was 45 - 50 degrees and fishing was slow. There was only one treacherous spot that tipped a few of us - tree all the way cross the creek with branches in the water like a drainage catch. This was right after the big 3 way split about 1/2 way. When you get to the split about half way down, you want to stay towards the middle right. Once in the middle channel it splits again and you can go far left and loop around or take the middle shicane, the right is too tight with logs right now and water is swift so it was difficult to turnaround. I would think that you would want to float this stretch of the the creek when the water is at least 2.5 - 2.75 feet or you may be dragging quite a bit. I would not do this float after mid summer - it would be a long day. Nothing to report in the land of enchantment. It is so clearly marked we had no trouble avoiding the property and floated right on by. Plenty of places to stop without trespassing, even with the water as high as it was. This weekend should be choice. The water is starting to slow down and the temp has been rising all week. We will definitely go back and do it again soon.
  3. I really appreciate the heads up Chief. I'm pretty sure I recalled where you were talking about and I believe I found the land of enchantment on Google Earth so we will hustle around that bend for sure.
  4. Definitely planned on dropping a line in the water, but mostly to get on the water and see what that stretch of the creek is all about. I haven't been through there for about 10 years now. Thanks for the response.
  5. Planning on getting the yaks out and float from Shoal from Lime Kiln to Tipton Ford Saturday (4.23.15). With any luck we will not get a substantial amount of rain today and tomorrow. That said, discharge is still going be around 550 CF/S. Does anyone have any experience with that stretch and current conditions? Too dangerous? I appreciate the feedback.
