  1. Lets see a picture of the "new" one?
  2. Mouse patterns and a killer pattern called wobble fry.
  3. Me to, but even then it's not accurate 100%.
  4. Randall, Sounds good. We did manage to hook a few between 21-23 inches, but didn't get any to the boat. Throwing streamers is one thing, but getting them in is alot harder if you've really never hook anything big. You have to strip set and most people with a "trout hook set" fishing indicators are lost. Nobody take this the wrong way, but most people who want to throw streamers and tell me they know how, DON'T. It's a whole other ball game I promise. If I could've landed everything we caught in the last year on the white throwing big streamers, it would be SICK. If you're after big fish, the white is where it's at for streamer fishing. I would put that river up agianst any. About two months ago I hooked two over 30 inches, but lost one from a weak hook set and the other one took my fly line and backing. I couldn't turn him, he went for the fences. One more thing, YOU HAVE TO BE A GREAT CASTER.
  5. Randall, Glad you hade a good time. I wish I could've been a part of it, but I was in Arkansas all weekend. When are you planning a trip back?
  6. That's GREAT! Here's the video I put together. Another way to approach trout.
  7. It was nice meeting you guys as well. It was my pleasure, that's what it's all about . Hope to run into more of you on the river. I made a little instructional video on another way to approach these trout. I'll post it later. +
  8. 10-4
  9. Now I need to work on a hopper pattern that can accomodate a glo stick What do you mean by this? I'm curious
  10. Trevor, Never had luck with scuds under a dropper, unless you wieght the fly instead of using a split shot, but even then the drift isn't right. It's easier to use some sort of bead head midge fishing under the dropper about 18-22 inches, that way you can drift in the water column instead of trying to keep scud patterns on the bottom, which is normally where scuds would be and how trout see them.
  11. I would say they'll work better by the time you get here. They like smaller sizes better then the larger ones.
  12. Hoppers do work, but right now I would concentrate on beetle patterns for more hook ups. The Big Ugly with droppers are really working great as well. I’ve been throwing hoppers, but they don’t work as well on Taney like they do on the White. Ant patterns in black are working pretty well to. My buddy showed me how to tie them with mono eyes and hackle the center. Off set the hook to where it sits in the water, so tie the ant more up on the front of the hook. Good luck and have a safe trip down.
  13. Here's what one of my clients Darren caught yesterday up at the cable. This fly catches just about everything.
  14. GREAT STORIES!! My wife Summer was 6 months pregnant when she hooked her biggest brown first time night fishing. About 15 minutes before we hooked a nice rainbow as well. Here's the story...
  15. Glad you had a good time. Those sinking lines are the best. They make all the difference in the world in moving water. Next time you come up, give me a ring. I've been fishing downstream and hooking some nice browns. I learned something about this river lately. Bring your drift boat or you can go out in mine. I also think the fish below lookout are fighting better. I've been throwing the leg spreader as well. Great fly! Oh by the way..I moved back up to Taney. Still guiding for Blue Ribbon, but my better half wanting to get out of Arkansas.
  16. Here you go.
  17. It was good meeting you Don. yeah, that was my dad a few buddies that were in town. We caught alot of fish and got some footage of the dam. The water got trashy, but once the gates shut off the water became clear in a hurry. So what did I do? I went to shad patterns and broke off three big fish. I got to see one and it looked to me like it was pushing 25 inches, rainbow to. The other two I never saw. DAM FOOTAGE
  18. I'll be down, maybe we'll bump into eachother. I plan on fishing deeper holes with mouse patterns, or muddler minnows. It'll be a good night for top water action.
  19. Phil, caught it on my swimming scud tied on that klink-hammer hook.
  20. Here's a small clip releasing her.
  21. Males have longer, larger faces and females have a short mouth, jaw and smaller face. Also males have kypes, (where the bottom jaw grows a "knot" like bump on it).
  22. Bman, I didn't measure the girth, just the length.
  23. I didn't, but it did have a red san juan worm in her fin. I talked to Darrel who said he foul hooked one last week and lost his sjw. I have the video on my site if anyone wants to watch it. It was a blast hooking that fish up there this time of year. I don't get up this way to fish Taneycomo anymore, this was actually the second time I fished it in the last year. I also saw some solid rainbows in the 22-24 inch range, good to see those as well. All the fish are fighting hard right now..and most have fat bellies. That was the only brown I saw in the upper section, maybe the only one, but who knows. I think she was up there from all the high water they’ve been running. I always see a few browns throughout the year, not only during the brown run. What I can’t believe, and something I learned from this is, hooking this fish in the middle of the day on a Saturday with probably 25 people in the area where this fish was feeding. I guess big browns do feed even though they are alarmed from to much pressure. Something to keep in mind.
  24. Bman, yes that was me, I caught her above outlet 2, it took me downstream so I chased her down. Yes, Darren took a dive for me, what a guy, that's all I can say.
  25. Went to the dam this morning and hooked a nice female. It took about ten minutes to land and these fish are fighting hard.
