  1. well i finally got a job in pittsburg kansas, after searching since last august, i am finally able to relocate to be down there with my wife. so i guess i am going to have to look for good fishing spots now, and get into some kansas hunting. excited to be a little more active on this forum now
  2. awesome! i dove by the neosho river last time i was in town. hopefully I will be out visitin in january for a week. so maybe i can get some fishing time in.
  3. yup.......CCA and lots of groups tried to help lobby for it to keep it open, but commercials and natives just messed it up......but of course the natives still are able to fish it indefintly.....total sham if you ask me. thats awesome I will for sure have to check out the Neosho river. I should be in town janruary if i dont get a job by then just to visit the spouse. I wouldnt mind getting back into bass fishing. I have been looking at bait caster reels for the first time in a decade lol.
  4. i have taken the ATV around all his plots of land as my spouse lives with them right now, and they have quite a few little creeks that are used for flash floods going through his properties. the water seems a little bit muddy. I will attach a pciture, hopefully this is what you are explaining........ http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee389/bluebullitt2003/mobile%20Uploads/2397ECEA-F8A7-497F-85A2-4D4A55239382_zpsqhqhuwon.jpg _
  5. orgeon has some aweomse fishing grounds! i love fishing the columbia river, especially when the kings run, google sauvie island, take a canoe out there and have some fun! i love the oregon coast, my friend lives in astoria (goonies) great fishing out there and great sturgeon fishing. but this is the last year for sturgeon, they are permently shutting it down, the natives and commercials oblitterated the species with nets so it needs to rebuild, both stats said they have no intention of opening it for a long long long time.....
  6. just googled big brutus, haha that thing is awesome! when i moved my spouse from seattle to kansas we tried to find cool little road side attractions like that on the way down, but didnt really find much. I will have to go check that out next time i fly in!
  7. Thats awesome! My spouse apparently has more family in Pittsburg so I will deffintly check out those areas. Im kind of intrigued and want to learn about the coal mining now that you mention it. Seems something worth reading up on sounds great! i bet you miss the Tripple X drive in. Totally had one of thier root beer floats on monday night , but I will keep you in mind, as im also looking for jobs in Tulsa. wow 3.5 to 5 hour drives......dang, but i guess i drive 3 hours some days out to our costal rivers up in forks (yes the place where that crappy vampire film was based out of) they have amazing steelhead waters, but it would be a good weekend trip to drive that far and sleep in the truck. I do enjoy hunting. My spouses mom just re-married and her new husband does soybean farming, he has tons of plots of lands, and i think is the largerst soy bean farmer in thayer kansas. They told me to come hunting out there, so I am really excited for that. I did try cat fishing in some of the small ponds they have throughout thier land, and it was ok....ended up catching nothing but snapping turtles and no catfish. anyways, i really appreciate all the advice on here. Ill make sure to make this website one of my "go to" sites now
  8. That would be awesome if its comparable! So im moving to the Parsons/Coffeyville area. Does anyone know where I can get maps of where to go fish? sorry totall newbie, so what is the strip pit area? i bought my spouse a pair or dorthy red slipper ear rings as a joke......now she wears them haha
  9. new to this site, but liked the topic. I am moving to Kansas soon, but im purchasing a Wooldridge Sport. I am friends with the owner of the company, and the quailty of the build is second to none, i have had the sport out 40 miles into the pacific in 15 foot rollers, or up a river in 4 inches of water. best all around boat i have ever come across anywhere in the country i have ever been pn, and the way they design the stern of the boat with a tunnel hull makes turns in the water awesome, i would never buy another brand boat anywhere i live for now on. the nice thing about their boats is that its the only boat that can not be blue booked, every boat is considered a "one off" so they have a pretty flippin high re-sale value for the life of them. this is the boat i am planning on building when i move to kansas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9UGYSTcmdM&feature=share&list=UUNVaCyMXXbq2X42dsqVr8mw&index=1
  10. Hi Everyone, I have been looking for a fishing forum in Kansas and finally stumbuled across this one My name is Jason, and I am planning to move to south east kansas in the next month or so as my spouse is attending nursing school in parsons kansas. Im a big time salmon/steelhead angler and I am sure as hell going to miss my salt water fishing, but I am excited to make the move to Kansas, however the past few times i visited, i couldnt really find any rivers to fish. I was hoping to connect with a few members and learn how to fish kansas. from what i seeing it seems like a lot of people fish catfish, but is there any good river/fly fising for trout? river fishing for trout will be the closest thing to my knowedge of fishing for steelhead and i would love to get back into fly fishing in kansas. Also bass fishing......havent done that in probably 15 years or longer, so im planning on buying all new gear, since im sure i would get laughed at if i showed up to a fishing hole with salmon gear haha. anyways, any help would be amazing! Im excited to relocate and start a new chapter in life. The hunting also looks phenomenal!
