My daughter and I fished the Good ol Boys tournament Saturday. We started up Sonscreek at the last channel swing before the 39 bridge. Water was 41. Started working our way towards the lake staying with the channel. Finaly found a stretch with some fish. We caught most of them on jerkbait and jig but ww and A-rig put a few in the boat also. We culled 8 times ( just ounces at a time) with I don't know how many shorts but a lot. We spent probably 5 hours going back forth about a 100 yard area. They just kept biting every pass so we stayed with them til we ran out of time. Our big fish ( I think lol ) was 3.74 and had 13.37 for a total. We had great day.

I don't blame you a bit it was dang it cold.

We had 10 boats 1st-15.20, 2nd-13.37, 3rd-11.73 and BB 4.24. 7 of the 10 boats had their limit. Just want to thank everybody for coming out and braving the cold. My daughter and I were dipping our rods in the water to clear the ice from the guides til about 9:30 this morning.

I will take it if you are not too far from Joplin

She refuses to admit we are getting old

Ya I sure hope so myself. But seems to me if a guy can handle the conditions, the fish at Stockton really bite well. The older I get the less I can handle it. I blame it on age my wife I'm just getting soft

These two tournaments fell back to back 2 years ago as well. A couple fellas got in our tournament since they were prefishing anyway. They ended up 3 with a little over 8lbs. The next day in polar bear they had over 20lbs.

Good ol Boys Open Buddy Tournament December 10, 2016 Mutton Creek ramp, 7:00am-3:30pm, $55 entry fee includes optional $5 BB, pay at ramp, no membership fee, pays 1 place for every 5 boats. Come on out and fish with us. I fished last Saturday but never caught a keeper. Fished what I think is about the same as all these fellas are reporting with jig, ww, and sb but only short fish to show for my efforts. I am not saying these guys are fibbing I'm saying I suck. So come on out, and have some fun fishing while taking my money.

I was just getting ready to post it actually. I will start a new one.

I don't fish sb a lot so when I do they have to be eating them good. Just not the confidence in them. Anyway I have had few of them break and brought that up to a buddy of mine that said he has never had a War Eagle break. Was just wondering if was just me. I will continue to use them just because what little I success I have with sb is with the War Eagle. I can't remember name but it is purple and white with chrome and gold blades
-
Thanks for report. You had it going on, nice job. If I could ask were you using a War Eagle sb?
-
Nice job! Always awesome to get to take the kids with you and you guys got the icing on the cake with a successful day. I bet she remembers it for a long time.

We had a great turnout with 18 boats. Paid 4 places and BB. 1st - 11.98, 2nd - 11.63, 3rd - 11.43, 4th - 8.69, BB - 5.92. Three 5 fish limits weighed in. Seemed that there were a lot of fish caught just finding the keepers was the tough part for most of us. Fourth place boat weighed in a monster Kentucky that pushed the scales down to 3.42lbs. We would like to thank everybody for coming out and fishing with us. I would also like to note that we will be having another Open tournament Saturday December 10.

Thanks for report. I will give it a try for sure.

Not sure about kayak tournaments sorry. I bet there mite b though because it sure seems to be gaining in popularity We have a few regulars that are probably gonna go hunting instead also. I am looking forward to cooler temps also so the better fish will move on back to where I can find them. Well where I think I can find them anyway. I fished last Saturday and caught 1 keeper. It was a good one 5lb 14oz but the only keeper. Tuesday got rained out at work so went and tried different part of the lake with same results several short fish but not a keeper that time. Couple days of fun catching. I probably don't use the right spinnerbait cause I just don't have much luck with them very often. The jig on the other hand is my bait of choice.

Good ol' Boys open buddy bass tournament, Saturday, November 12, 7:00am-3:30pm, Mutton Creek ramp, $55 entry includes BB, no membership fee, pay at ramp, cash only, pays one place for every 5 boats.

I don't know about BATS tournament but we had a pretty tough day. We caught 5 fish all day. Not any 2 were on the same cover, structure, or bait. 2 were keepers and the other 3 put end to end probably wouldn't have made a keeper. You won't have any trouble finding fish, you are one of those guys that can catch a fish in a mud hole in a dirt road.

I fished Friday for them for about 2 hours. Finally found a little school of them in 10 fow along a bluff by Birch Branch. Caught 8 keepers and 3 shorts in pretty short order once I found them. All good size 11"-121/2" except the few shorts they were about 6". Bobby garland soft plastics, shad color, and 1/16 lead head. Sorry not a lot of help just been bass fishing too much and not stellar results with that either.

We don't have anymore open tournaments for this years schedule. Our fiscal year, if you will, starts in November and we usually have 2-3 open tournaments per season. Most likely our next open tournament will be in December. I am sure one of us will post it on here at least a week or so beforehand. Here is a link to the regatta listings I believe the Stockton Friday Nighter is the 19 https://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/WP04Web/app/searchRegattaWeb?action=Search+Again

Thanks again for everyone that got to fish with us. Pleasure meeting you guys. It is always a team effort to put together and run these tournaments such as 5fsh keeping up with this discussion since I didn't have signal 90% of the weekend at the lake. It is just a great group of guys that pitch in whenever/wherever needed. Congratulations is in order for 5fsh also as he and his son won 1st place and BB. I will get the official weights posted when I get home this evening.
