  1. Cabin fever having set in, fished Bennett Zone 1 for a couple of hours. Temp about 57 but wind made it feel much worse. Very few anglers upon arrival at noon, only 2 or 3 within sight. Sporadic hatches off and on and lots of midging but didn't have what they wanted. Wife netted 5 on yellow bodied wolly bugger and missed several others. I had one bite (I think). Oh well...at least we had it almost to ourselves. Sure gets cold out there! Bob A Springfield
  2. Thanks for the link, JJ.....Amazing photo work and all First Class!!! Bob A
  3. Fished Zone 1 from 11:00 AM till 2:00 PM. Park was busy but not especially crowded with temps in mid 50s upon arrival. Nice, nice hatches going on and fish were feasting...real good dry fly and soft hackle action. Light rain sprinkles and showers. Lots of fish caught with activity turning down about 1:00 PM with the cold front moving closer and temps dropping. Great morning and early afternoon before the front got closer. For those down for the weekend, a brutal Saturday ahead with cold and high winds. Bob A Springfield

Good post, Catman!!! Wish we could somehow identify the author....would be great if he could get credit and psss this all over the net. Bob A, Springfield
  5. And just one more Thank You from another Nam Vet army retiree. It had to be a wonderful experience for our wounded warriors. Bob A, Springfield
  6. Thanks for the OGT contact points. The more of us who can get involved, the better off we will all be. Bob A, Springfield
  7. Began in Zone 1 late morning and"gave up" two hrs later. Very few anglers fishing, water high, somewhat discolored, with fast flow/drift. None of the anglers I talked with had any luck and didn't see one fish caught. From the looks of things, could be a couple of weeks before it gets back to anything resembling normal. Sooooo...anybody coming from out of state or long drives, may want to call around first.....Most likely will be an expensive and disappointing trip. Bob A, Springfield
  8. Trout, couldn't agree with you more regarding enforcement. Wish they'd hire some temp "fishing checkers", have the check tags, lures, flies, etc....keep many of the fishers honest, write citations. As far as violators, I'd LOVE a job like that if I could work on straight commission! I could sure have a comfortable retirement and a winter condo in Florida. Thanks for your above response. Bob A
  9. Just a moment of musing, maybe getting some input or ideas. Been fishing Bennett for over 5 yrs and have met some pretty skilled flyfishers, both locals and out of towners, many of who have fished Bennett 30 years or more. Among many of these anglers, there seems to be a general concensus that Zone 1 is somewhat neglected when it comes to stocking, that Zones 2 and 3 seem to be a higher priority. If this is so, there could be lots of reasons for this, primarily, so that those who are typically not fly fishers can go home happy, with easier fishing and catching, while there seems to be fewer meat fishing going on in Zone 1. (Pure speculation, but that is my impression also.) Anyhow, just wondering how other fly fishers feel about this general concensus and if there might be any rememdy if this is factual. Regards, Bob A (Springfield)
  10. Fantastic!!! Wonder why I hadn't noticed this earlier. Thanks so much for posting this link. Bob A. Springfield

  18. Steve, not to throw a black cloud but Table Rock Lake dam has been running 4 units almost constantly and the odds are, this won't change much with all the rain still forcasted. Hope you don't make a special trip down for nothing. At 4 units, it's just about impossible to fish without a boat. Bob A
  19. RcGuy, you're quite welcome and glad it helped. Hope you'll let me know how they produce for you. Regards Bob A
  20. Pat....got the files you sent and thanks. Nice little pattern and one that I am also very fond of. Kind of a "go to" patern for me. Was nice receiving them. Bob A
  21. RcGuy, watch your mail box. Getting something to you to show how the tail is tied in...Yep, it is a little tricky but once you see it, you'll have no problem. Hope it helps. Bob A (Springfield)
  22. Greg, I picked that up at River Run Outfitters in Branson. As a matter of practicality, I really don't feel color really makes that much difference. I just try and stay with a brownish and/or olive but should work with any color. Bob A (Springfield)
  23. Dave Potts, Dave, I don't recall getting an Email from you. Send again, please. Bob A (Springfield)
  24. Yes, I think most of us are familiar with that guy who passes himself off to be a "guide." I recall on one ocassion, he placed one of his clients very, very close to me. I politely asked the client to please give me some room and explained to him a little about streamside ethics. He did move, and was embarassed but I blame the so called "guide" more than I did the client. I also gave him the names of several professional guides for future reference. Bob A (Springfield)
