  1. I agree two hour drive to fish fellows.. I dont know where you are coming from but im sure there is a better place to go thats closer.
  2. I found that if you keep going past 65 bridge the fishing gets better, in my opinion at least. I hope within the next week the whites will be running. I want to see what all the hype is about.
  3. A place that I like to go is springfield lake. Usually we dont go out on the main lake but more of the river part. There is a little boat ramp that makes it easy to put in to thats not on the main lake. Water is usually perfect for it slow current. I wouldnt say fishing is great but in the summer we catch bass every trip. Ive seen people catch a lot of crappie to if you can find the brush piles.
  4. I was there Tuesday, didnt see anyone else in a kayak uness you werent in one. Tuesday was the first time i had everbeen to taylors. Let me know how you do saturday if you get the chance to go. Maybe ill see you down there sometime.
  5. On a fishing note it shouldnt be to much longer before we get some bigger ones running should it?
  6. Rick, my kayak is an Ascend FS10. Got it from bass pro last year. Ive had two flat bottom boats before this but always had to have a friend go with me if i wanted to get in the water. This Kayak is great for fishing has 3 places to put rods, a place to hold your paddle in front of you while your fishing, has a comfortable seat and its fairly sturdy. My Friend went with a cheaper one and is regretting it already.
  7. It may be a bit of a drive for you but when the carp start running if you go to sac river bike trails just north of springfield on hwy 13 you will find tons. Just park in the parking lot or trail head then head west down to the water. If the carp are running you will see them by the dozens. Some very big ones down there to. I bowfish there and have very good luck if the times right.
  8. Got to Taylors around 2 taday with one of my friends planning on fishing untill dark... well 10 minutes after we get there the clouds opened up for two hours. Fished for a while didnt catch anything, ended up getting soaked and the temperature dropped to 45. Being cold and wet we decided to head back home and wouldnt you know it when we got back the sun comes out. In the end not my best fishing trip. Hope to go back next week with better luck.
  9. I was wondering how the water would flow after a good rain. Now i know not to go out on a kayak after it rains. Thanks
  10. Thanks for all the info. Im going up Tuesday and i let you guys know how the bite is assuming im using the right stuff.
  11. I think im going to head down there tommorro morning any suggestions on what to use?
  12. Ive never been to taylors bridge and was wondeing if it would be a good place to kayak and fish? Not sure how the water usually flows down there. Any advice would be helpful.
  13. Thanks for the help ill check it out.
  14. I plan to this spring if time allows. My fly rod is a 7'6" 5 weight im not sure if it would hold up to a big carp. Im new to fly fishing any suggestions on flys that work good for carp.
  15. I was wondering if anyone has fished and had any good luck at the river beside the sac river bike trails and the water treatment plant. Ive fished there a few times only cought some small smallmouths a couple largemouths and some grass carp i think they are. Bow fishing for carp is very good down there if you find the right spots. I should probably mention I fly fish so if anyone knows what works down there i would greatly appreciate it.
