  1. You might try Hobbs State Park. The Pigeon Roots Trail. There's campsites along it and close to Van Winkle Hollow. Probably totally off what you are looking for but, it's the only thing I know of
  2. Sorry a little late on the post. After getting back into town Monday afternoon we got a hall pass on the 4th for about three hours It was overcast, cool and just the perfect kind of weather that my dad can tolerate to get out in. He's on all kinds of meds for his kidney transplant so he can't be out in the sun and heat too long. It was awesome to have him out there. We pulled cranks again along flats/channel drops for about two hours until a gulley washer came over and called it quits. Steady bite the whole time. God bless
  3. Might should have threw the kitchen sink at them today. Tough bite today. I seen them but, they would not take much of anything. Manage a few though
  4. Good Deal Bill!! I use 8ft, 12ft, and 16ft BnM Pro Staff trolling rods. Have 2 of each that I put off both sides of the bow. Line, I use 10# Seaguar fluorocarbon. Yeah not much a fight in them. lol! But, that's what I want them to do, is skim the surface. Less chance of loosing them that way with that thin mouth.
  5. That's how it goes doesn't it! First day of vacation and the wind decided it wanted to blow. Did a different area that I haven't fished in the summer in a few years. Mostly choose it to stay out of the wind. Did what I always do. Trolled the main channel/edge, steep drops, and along flats. Stayed busy... Just no big ones. All 10-12" WT 80-84, lightly stained Out again today. Hopefully the wind will lay some. God Bless
  6. Staid, light ding look. Very good fishy color to me
  7. Basically go where they should be in seasonal movement patterns and follow channels. And stay on the dirtier water end
  8. Think the guy is hooked. First thing Monday morning my coworker was all ready to go again! We got started about 12 on Friday and pulled cranks until about 3. Over flats /channel edges like last week. WT 79-82 We both had to quit around 3 to get to a BBQ so we didn't keep anything less than 12". Didn't want to have to clean too many and be too late. Got to keep the boss happy. lol! Caught 40 total. Kept just 9 , 12-14". No telling what we had if we kept all the 10-11 inchers. Was busy with dinks. Ha! Just enjoy summer and don't care if it gets any hotter. God bless, pic below
  9. Ha! No one else is in the boat. It's a Contour ROAM action video or photo camera. Like a GoPro but, much easier to deal with. I just set it on my rod holder or mounts I have around the boat. Then switch it on to take pics every several seconds.
  10. Thank you sir. I enjoy it
  11. Leisure time fishing at it's best! Took a coworker out yesterday that never ever really crappie fished before. Had to change that. He's only just fished little ponds back where he is from He had a blast and caught several PB's! Ha! Doing what I look forward to do every year. Pulling cranks. WT 76-80. Kind of trolling aimlessly right know and coving water. Basically stayed along the flat/channel edge as always just a lot more water in that column. I'ld move to the more normal depth that the lake would be at but, wouldn't ever get a bite. It's not full on yet. Need heat which is coming and be nice if the lake would get down more. lol! Several of them still had eggs in them that they are absorbing. That flooding might of mess some of them up. I don't know. It was a great day and had a lot of fun! God bless
  12. Been hit or miss for me the past several weeks. I haven't really been much. Rigged in chocolate syrup over a month ago after the flood and caught 5 little keepers and a few shorts Tried cranking, long lining with a friend the week after. Caught several shorts and a muddy water striper. That was pretty much the highlight of that trip Sunday was the first time in a couple weeks that I've gone. Got a hall pass to go after church so took it. Started over deep water along the channel with nothing but, a ton of shorts. Moved shallow and that's where I found them. On a spawning flat that was once pushing daises over a month ago. Rigged along flooded bushes, grass and that under growth stuff. Wish I had my doodle socking rod in the boat. Would of put all the crap up and had a time I think. Turned out to be fun short afternoon and great to be on the water. God bless and be safe out there. Backer down the fish will still be there when you get there. Tons of debris from what I could see on shore from the end of Hwy 264 all the way around past Hickory Creek cut through, to that right bend towards Piney.
  13. Saw this on FB
  14. The river has cleared up a lot since last Friday's trip. Too me it's the clearest it's been since like September. Water temp was 68-70. The big crappie have moved on I think and it was too windy for me to fish the main river effectively. I ended with 10 keeper crappie. Basically just found bait being pushed shallow and just drifted around it nabbing what I could that was in with all the shorts that are thick. Them boogers are everywhere. Felt like I was just feeding them lol! Ready for the water temp to warm on up for cranking season Happy Easter, God bless
  15. I'll send you a message in a bit
  16. Started around noon yesterday and just over two hours later was out of 5 dozen minnows. lol! I don't know how many of them pesky things I caught. It was nuts! Constantly shuffling rods in and out of the water turned into work. Anyway once out of minnows, switched to black/chartreuse tube jigs. It slowed down some but, not by much. Just came more manageable rigging. WT 60, trashy and dirty. Targeting staging females along key spawning banks. God bless
  17. Pushing in muddy water, lol!
  18. Will do sir.... That end is a different world to me. Only time I see that end is when Danny freezes me to death hunting for stripers. lol! Good luck to your Cubs. Their going to need it! The Cardinal shirt was my grand paw shirt and I think it brings luck when fishing
  19. And loving every minute of it! The lake is up like 4-5 feet since I was on it last. Decided to explore the new water in the lake on Friday and they were too. Weeded threw a ton of shorts and got picky with 10 inchers when I went on the swine hunt . lol! End with 9 good thumpers. God bless!
  20. Nothing like a delicacy meal severed from a white bucket! awesome deal bud
  21. It's March Madness Baby! It's on fire! First off! Can't confirm if they both where stripers but, they both started pulling line off for a country mile until my hooks straighten! Ain't going to tango with them this year with 16 foot poles Report: Rigging double minnow rigs and jigs tipped with minnows along the creek channel 8-10 fow, 4-6 down. Up the White River arm. Finished with 13. A lot of them caught on the top hook so, fish shallow when overcast. WT 50 degrees and dirty. God Bless
  22. That seems to be how it goes some days! Not the most favorable conditions Friday but, it's the only day I get to fish. lol! Stuck with it and had a little luck... White River arm, rigging minnows, black/chartreuse tube jigs tipped with minnows along creek channel again 10-8 fow, 5-6 feet down was where I found the most active crappie. Be prepared to boat a ton of 10" or less fish. Them pesky things are thick again which is good thing in the long run! God Bless!
  23. Fished Wednesday late afternoon for a couple hours and then Friday. Bite was slow for me both days in the area I was at but, quality was GOOD! Rigging double minnow and double jig rigs up the White River arm, along the creek channel in 8-12 fow, 6-8 feet down. They also wanted it swimming away from them yesterday .5-.8 mph. Hope this help y'all out there. God Bless! Swine pics below!
  24. IMO no... Been catching them in this depth all fall and winter. They were there in 41 degree water temp. I'ld just follow along the channel. Start out and move in
