  1. Also, many people confuse a small striper for a large hybrid. Just because they have a couple broken lines does not mean it is a hybrid.
  2. Thanks, ended up with 4 grandkids coming over last night so no energy to get up early. Im gonna try late this evening or early tomorrow morning. Hoping the rain today will send pleasure boaters home and lake won't be bad this evening. Thanks for advise.
  3. I was thinking of going by the dam in the morning. You think there might be a striper top water bite left? Is it better to put in at Lost Bridge South or North? I may wait until Monday morning to avoid boats, what time does the boat traffic get crazy on that end of lake? It's been years since I fished the big end of the lake.
  4. We fish eight days on the gulf coast in October or November every year. My wife said she's been at all of that deer camps and fish camps that she ever wants to be at. She said if I wanted her to continue to go with me to the coast to fish in the fall that I would have to improve our lodging or she would not go. I asked for three days to make a decision. Another bad move
  5. I might look for some whites on top in the morning but for sure I'm gonna take grandson tomorrow evening looking for whites on top. He's at that age where catching is necessary to keep his attention.
  6. That's funny, but I do remember a time when Arkansas got in and we felt like we were fortunate to get in it.
  7. That is the most detailed report you will find on any forum. The only thing it lacks is gps cords. (Not asking). I've got 1 day of fishing this week then off to Ft Walton Beach for a week. The pole has to stay home cuz I know if I take it, I will be driven to fish every day and ruin the trip for my wife. (Maybe I can hide one of those telescopic rods in my suitcase). Thanks for the report!
  8. Just my luck I was over around pt 6 looking for stripers and struck out.
  9. I am going Sunday morning and try to find some stripers on top. I have not fished this year but I use to do good around Pt 6 this time of year on top water stripers. Are they up that far or would you recommend starting in a different area? I live close to Monte Ne but can trailer anywhere. Thanks for advice.
  10. You are right, Craig would do better than Angie. Our company advertises with Angie's List so it is on my mind. It's funny (or not) how you can read and check your post 3 times before you submit but you have to hit the button to find the mistake.
  11. I bought another boat with larger trolling motor and stripped down my previous boat to sell off parts since engine was blown. The trolling motor below has been used about 10 days a year for the last 8 years and works perfect. I bought it new. I am going to list it on Angie's List around Lousiana and Louisiana Sportsman Classified in a couple weeks for $925.00 which would include shipping. To avoid the hassle of boxing and shipping, I will sell it locally for $800.00. This is a saltwater trolling motor and it is easier to sell on the coast. It does NOT include the batteries. I live in Rogers, Ar if anyone wants to take a look at it. Minn Kotta Riptide ST 24 volt, 60 inch shaft, 80 lb thrust with I-pilot and remote control. I bought it new about 8 years ago and it works great. $800.00
  12. I throw an 8 ft net and it gets a little complicated after 6ft. I throw similar to the video but I may learn that method as well. Most of my netting is when the shrimp make their run out of the marsh and into the Gulf. They get stacked up at the weirs. The boats get stacked up close also and it is embarrassing when everyone watches you blow a throw time after time. Then they find out your not from Louisaiana and they understand why you can't throw a net. So, for pride sake, I practice and do well throwing the big net now.
  13. I passed your info to a couple of people. I will let you know if they want an interview.
  14. What kind of job are you looking for?
  15. Thanks for info
  16. If you put in kayak at twin bridges and float down to Neils Bluff, is there a place to take out at Neills Bluff? Never floated this stretch of the river and my boat is too big to go that far up other than my Kayak.
  17. Nice catch, I am just now setting up for spider rigging hoping it will help me in my catching of Crappie.
  18. Thanks Fishinwrench for the simple breakdown. I will start getting the engine evaluated when I return from my trip.
  19. Thanks for the quick responses to all. Fishinwrench, are you saying If I rebuild and break in, I can get more profit out of the motor than if I sell as is? How much more? M/L
  20. Blew my 2000 model 150 Opti on 1st day of 8 day coastal trip. Was able to rent a boat to salvage the trip. I know I will open a can of worms here but please start some advice headed my way. I have 3 options. Rebuild existing motor (not too excited about a rebuild), new 2 stroke 150 Optimax or new 150 4 stroke. I have 1 more day tomorrow fishing coast and then headed back to Rogers. Boat will go up for winter so I have time to make best decision. Also I need new mechanic for my boat work. The one I have used in Springdale for years would not even return my calls when I was in a bind. Can you give me any advice in the Rogers area where to start taking my boat for service? Thanks
  21. In my years as a Taxidermist on Beaver Lake from 1986-2003 I have mounted around 2500-3000 Stripers. When skinning and would notice something large in the belly, I would cut it open to see what the fish are feeding on. I may have once found a bass in a Stripers belly but not even sure of that. No doubt that Stripers would eat a bass from time to time but I spent years finding Shad, Shad And more Shad in their bellies. Also a few perch. As for posting reports, I read this forumn to give me something to do to get me dreaming about fishing again. I have only been on the lake 1 time this year and did that just to take a man who had never been in a boat before. When and if I do go in the fall, I will be intentional about posting even though I normally do not have a positive report due to lack of fishing skills and very little time on the lake. This forumn is full of good people. I am more active on Salty Cajun forumn because I spend more time fishing the salt even though I live by Horseshoe Bend. Salty Cajun is full of drama and pure meanness causing me to appreciate the quality of people on this forumn. I hope to contribute reports in the future.
  22. I am getting ready for 7 days La inshore fishing trip in Oct. does that help? Not going out in this heat. It is the time of year to get honeydo's out of the way so when fall gets here I can be absent for a couple months huntin and fishing.
  23. They may also want to limit the amount of water to the Mississippi to prevent it from flooding because it has so much water coming in from so many different areas
  24. Yep, a pretty black white crappie. I painted hundreds when I was a full time taxidermist. That fish has the good looks of a black and the lines of a white. The black crappie arn't much good to eat, just call me and I will take them off your hands.
  25. Agree, must do Monte Ne Chicken, listed as Monte Ne Inn online 479-636-5511. 1/2 mile from Monte Ne Ramp Don't go if you don't like fried chicken.
