I think you are correct about the hunters ed course, I think I will complete that this week hopefully in time for our trip. The gun part I am confused about, if I do not conceal it then is it legal. Since i transport my handgun all the time from the house to the range never really carried it around for protection in the wild. thank you both

After several failed attempts of contacting a game warden or someone in this region about this I have resorted to forums. After leaving them 8 voice-mails I got the hint, no one is calling me back. Me and a friend of mine have planned a three day two night float from Greer spring to RIverton. We plan on doing some trout fishing and setting up camp somewhere along the mid point for 2 nights. We would also like to do some squirrel hunting and just to mess around we would like to do it with a Pellet gun. Question is do we still need a hunters ed permit for this? or just purchase the small game permit? Second question is I would like to bring a handgun with me incase of any predators. My handgun is too large to carry so my friend has agreed to loan me his. If it is tucked in my pack and bullets and clip in another pack do I still have to have a Conceal and carry? Anything special I need to prove whose gun it is, or that I have permission to use it? If anyone could clear this up for me I would greatly appreciate it. Also if you have any tips or advice on the trip, stops, fishing advice, whatever is helpful. Especially any particular good camping ground with a outhouse or something near by. Nick
