  1. 32 years with a major metropolitan fire department. 20 as an officer, most of it working the inner city districts. I should write a book on the things we experienced. I certainly don't believe I am uniquely qualified on any subject other than compassion for my fellow travelers on this earth.
  2. Does 'enforcement action' include putting someone in a boat with their hands cuffed behind their back and not having enough common sense too see what could go wrong with that scenario? Oh, I forgot it was a simple lack of training....unbelievable lack of accountability!
  3. Your reports are a great read. Congrats on your 2nd place finish.
  4. Nice fish! Pomme sure is a great fishin' hole. Wanted to get out today but worked in the garden instead.
  5. Welcome Slab, you'll learn a lot from the folks on this site.
  6. That's great! Been catching them above Bolivar landing in the river. 2-10fow around brush and stumps on jigs tipped with minnows. Seems like the smaller the structure the larger the fish?? Caught a few nice white bass also on roadrunners. Water temp was 56-58. Bonus was the turkeys were gobblin' everywhere?
  7. No problem. Be careful out there, the lake is down several feet, lots of trees and shallow water.
  8. Lighthouse Harbor is the marina just off one end of the dam. Can't miss it. There is a boat ramp there also. Good luck in the tourney.
  9. I don't know what he likes best, feathers or fish slime.?
  10. Hey Claybuster, ole moose wanted me to ask you where his goosemeat is. He said to remind you of all the pheasants he flushed for you up there in South Dakota.
  11. Checked the ramps at Lightfoot today and they were good to go except for some snow on them. That should be gone by this weekend. Looked to be fishable water as far down the main channel as far as I could see. There was ice blocking the channel up towards bolivar landing. The coves I could see had a lot of ice. If it warms up later this week I don't give a rats@#$%, I'm goin' fishin'.☺
  12. I guess now they'll have signs on all the big trees along the stream...........that lawfirm must not have any fishermen on board
  13. I guess it's hard for some folks to admit they were mistaken and move on. Good job on the trout there aggressor. Looks like you had a great day!
  14. Looks like ole moose is going to be eatin' a whole lot of goose?
  15. Hey CB, you remember ole Emersom Biguns? I think you used to goose hunt with him..........
  16. Frankenstein deer. Why even bother to shoot them. Just have them slaughtered and mount the head. It would be about as sporting. If they are infecting the wild herds it needs to stop. The deer around here look really healthy, of course they don't have racks like that.
  17. Hey Claybuster, don't you know how groupthink works? If you stray from the herd you MUST be wrong. Now get back in line you rabblerouser
  18. I see what you mean. I wonder what kind of 'feed' those deer are getting? Just a deer watcher so I am a bit uninformed on this subject.
  19. Why would you ever need to 'farm raise' deer in missouri? My wife and I are sitting here looking at half a dozen standing in our front yard. It's just crazy..............
  20. Best to move on Claybuster, I'm catchin' your drift. Can't wait to see you down here this spring for some crappie fishin' and mushroom huntin'. Oh and by the way, my dog tells me he can't find those cacklers in missouri anymore
  21. I accidentally flushed a small covey(6-8 birds) off of a fencerow on my place last fall. Have no idea where they came from and haven't seen them since. Had not seen any quail on this place in the 30+ years we have owned this property. It was pretty cool to see them. .
  22. You can dismiss my concern with a condescending wave of your hand if you wish but how many mature trees does it take to make 5 mil. I would never allow my property here in the ozarks to be logged. I have seen the results and it ain't pretty. Seems a little counter- intuitive to me for a conservation oriented organization to be cutting trees for profit. This is typical governmental overreach. I don't have a problem paying for fishing and hunting licenses, I know the enjoyment I get in return. All one has to do is look at all the pictures at bass pro to see that some type of regulation was needed or we would just be reminiscing about the good old days.
  23. Well, I guess 97 mil just doesn't go as far as it used to with inflation and all that....maybe they can make up the difference selling lumber
  24. Does habitat work include the logging of public land and pocketing the profits?
