  1. JDoc, Thanks for your response. I do intend to go back soon and look at this with structure scan to see if it shows anything. I'll post a follow up once I get there. It is a silt bottom with very few boulders or features across the loch. I've yet to play around with the settings as this was the first time I'd used it and I could hardly believe my eyes when the screen lit up. Its funny how you begin to doubt everything you think you know when starting over with new equipment. I am surprised at the number of fish that seem to be in this loch.
  2. Having just bought the 7" Dragonfly sounder / plotter I was keen to try it out on a very small loch stocked with rainbow trout and a few browns. There are a few pike too but as far as I'm aware, no other species. I'm used to an old monochrome Eagle Fish easy 2 but am slightly confused by the results I found with the Dragonfly. It is a shallow loch of about 6 acres in total with about 1 acre offering water of between 14' - 20' deep. I'd love to hear any comments on these images as I'm finding it difficult to believe these arcs are all fish. The middle image has a large unexplained hit on the bottom that I suspect may be a spring (as there are no inflows to the loch). Diggerdawg
  3. After looking though the many pages here I thought I'd join the forum as it seems to be a great resource with plenty of enthusiastic contributors. I'm always looking for a different angle on things and hope I can pick up a few tips and ideas. I work as a fisheries biologist in Scotland where most of my fishing is for brown and ferox trout but occasionally pike and Atlantic salmon too. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute something useful.
