  1. In the water with wet suits on and music cranking.
  2. Oh, I forgot to mention there was a wake boat out doing there thing while I was fishing. Thought they were done for the year???????
  3. I went further south then I normally travel, and tried dragging brooders just past the water intake below Monte Ne. Marked bait and some fish but ended up only catching a big white on the brooders, and two nice whites on a jigging spoon. Was slow for me and a foggy trip back to dock. Water temp around 46.
  4. Took a friend fishing with me today to go after some striper. Was persistent with the cast net thanks to Dan and netted about 2 dozen gizzard shad. I lost 3 stripers, and caught 3 good size largemouth. He lost a few stripers also but brought in a small 8-10 pounder and then caught this one about 20 lbs. It was his biggest striper ever and made our day. He caught it on one of his bass baitcasters so it took a little while. Had to spend some time reviving it but was released when it was spunky. He didn't keep the smaller one either because he is allergic to eating fish.
  5. It is in the north area of the lake between Rocky Branch and the Dam. I brought a rod with 10lb flouro on it, and it was pretty much only good for catching bait fish. And that wasn't an easy task on the tackle either. Had quite a few nice fish on the smaller rod that didn't last too long. Usually when trying to bring in a half pound cabaillto (blue runner) something would grab it and just leave with no stopping. The Chinese have decimated the sardine population down here, so with no bait, not many fish. And the fish are all hungry searching out different sources of food. Very primitive fishing style here with usually only hook , line and bait. (no sinker) Generally dead bait. When I lived in Florida we had to go far offshore for these species, but yesterday we caught a Dorado only a couple hundred yards off the beach. We are in La Paz Mexico off of the Southern tip of the Baja in the Sea of Cortez. Landscape like desert, but we're here in the rainy season and have seen showers everyday. Will be back in the States Wednesday. Hasta la vista, mi amigos.
  6. And no those aren't row boats, but close to it.
  7. Not sure what these things are but all caught on the Ned!!!!!!!
  8. Haven't fished much lately, but it was beautiful out so I tried from about 6pm till just before dark. I spooned around Beaver Shores and caught one bluegill not much bigger then the spoon. Went to a point by the islands and caught a couple kentuckies and one smallie. They were on the ned. Boat traffic definitely slowing down. Water temp 81. Nothing was keeper size. t
  9. I live just East of Downtown Rogers and I got 4" in my rain gauge.
  10. Finally got to Hook Line and Sinker and used my gift certificates from the guys here. Thank you all for doing that. I picked up some drop shotting stuff, line, couple spoons, walleye trolling lure. Feels good to get some stuff in the new tackle box. Thanks again. Haven't been fishing much with the heat, and work and pleasure boaters, but nice days are on the horizon.
  11. Caught lots of undersized crappie. Bait was very scattered and minimal and a storm at 3am pushed us out of there. Was not a productive night but still had fun. Only caught two white bass. No one out there but us again. Used various types of jigs and plastics for crappie. Even had a big crappie get off at boat on a Ned. We were set up in 100' of water. I do think with the moon fairly bright the lights don't attract near as much bait.
  12. Going out there right now. Looks like it fizzled around here.
  13. I fish for most everything. Stripers when they are around the middle part of the lake. Bass when fun fishing. Of course night fishing for some food with the whites, walleye, and crappie. Occasionally panfish for fun. I just like to fish and mix it up all the time. I'm not a great fisherman but I love it.
  14. Thank you all again. I am most humbled by the generosity.
  15. Thanks guys. When the Police report gets finished I will submit it to my insurance and they said they should cover about $1000, less then half of what was stolen, but I would not feel right taking anyone's money. You are a bunch of great guys to even consider it to a stranger. It really makes me feel good knowing there are still wonderful people out there. Thank you all again, but no need to give me any money. My first name is Chris.
  16. My white light I bought off of Ebay has 300 LED of the 5060 type. A bit brighter then 5050. They supposedly have a name brand led in them not the cheap ones????? All those led are still not as bright as the little ball shaped lights that the Asian couple have. Theirs looks one bulb in each but puts out mega light. I paid $69 plus shipping. The green does look cooler too! My green one is an old Bass Pro fluorescent tube not near as bright as the white but still attracts bait, just not as much I think due to the intensity. I just could not see myself spending the $200-300 that some of the fancy ones cost. Now I just have to work on replacing tackle and rod and reels.
  17. I'll post the stolen items just in case anybody see's or hears about anything. 13 fishing concept C (white) reel (8 to 1) with a daiwa tatula casting rod Med. Lews laser pro reel with a Veritas 7'3" MH casting rod Shimano stradic fj 3000 with a Bass Pro Carbonlite (white) spinning rod Med. Light. Shimano stradic fj 4000 with a Bass Pro Carbonlite (black) spinning rod Med. Cabelas soft tackle bag Yellow and Black Sun Dolphin Journey 10 fishing kayak. Not the greatest but meant the most because from the kids.
  18. Not offended at all. On an actual fishing note. A friend went with me Sunday night and brought extra poles and tackle for me to use and we went out at night again with the same combo of lights at the same place. I looked real close at the radar and studied it intensely deciding that all the flood and severe storm warnings were "wrong". This time they were wrong. Drizzled a little here and there, light breezes but not windy and not a single other soul out there fishing but us. It was total peace. This time we had all sizes of shad around the lights from the tiny cloud that we had on our last trip to gizzards, and nice threads. The fish didn't want anything bigger then an inch long. Three 5" shad sat at different depths until they turned stiff. Caught all the fish on Bobby Garlands Lil Bits or something like that and the tiny live shad. And I'm talking tiny!!! Fishing wasn't that hot or anything but fun and relaxing. Brought home 6 whites, 5 black and white crappie, and two walleye and split the fish with friend. Tried blackening the whites on cast iron on the grill and they were great. If my wife eats it I know I did it right.
  19. I guess I'm just an idiot!! Thanks, makes me feel much better. I should probably trailer my boat from now on cause that has the most value of all "on a dock.'
  20. I am waiting to pick up the police report as soon as they finish it. I hate thieves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Wall mount for sure.
  22. Went to go check the boat this afternoon to find I was robbed. Brand new kayak that my kids bought me for fathers day, 4 good rod and reels, and all my tackle stolen. Total aggravation!!!!!!!!!!
  23. It's variety for me. I never bad mouthed Stripers must be talking about someone else. I'm not great at any one species cause I like to change it up all the time. Some days just playing with the bluegill and green sunfish makes me happy. Of course a 50lb striper on 6lb would be great. I think I get bored too easy, and why I don't stick to just one type of fish. I saw on the news that they were doing some type of study to see if Beaver was getting too overpopulated with boats and people. It will be interesting to see the results. Not sure how they determine the answer on that study??? Many of the lakes have advisories on eating the fish and so far Beaver "seems" to be clean, but I hope that's because it's checked often. Always picking up garbage that people leave all over the shoreline after they are done hanging out drinking and relaxing. The crows and buzzards eat the food scraps and filleted fish carcasses but nothing seems to eat the cans, and plastic. Does anyone know if a 39" walleye would be a record for this lake?
  24. Went out just before dark. Forgot to look at the radar before we left of course. Was only one other boat tied under the bridge and a few others scattered around. Got all set up with a green light port, and a white light starboard. Had baby shad around the lights within 10 minutes. In an hour had thousands but they were tiny (not big enough to net) Looked like rain might hit, then the straight line winds came. Holy moly, it was howling !!!! Rained just a little bit but stayed dry under the bridge. Wind was shifting from many different directions. The magical older couple weren't out tonight. Not only are they better night fishermen than me, they are smarter too ! Most all the other boats got out of Dodge. Wind died down and tried multiple times to get shad , but only the tiny ones were there. Wife gave me the "Look" and laid down with the dog on the pontoon couch and went to sleep. I started jigging a "lil fishey" jig from walmart. Finally caught a small white. I mean really small. Night became very comfortable so I was determined. I tried to ignore the snoring from my wife and the pooch. My white light had about 3 times the amount of shad that the green one did. All said and done kept 5 whites between 14"-16", one 12" black crappie, and a 24" walleye all on the $1 jig. Caught lots of small whites, about a dozen small crappie, and a 16" and 17.5" walleye. When the duo finally decided to get up the light of day was showing through the clouds, and the fisherman were hitting the water. A little slow overall, but a great and relaxing night after Hurricane Beaver was over. Fish tacos tomorrow.
  25. Good to have you here.
