  1. Appreciate the offer, but that 8-5 go to work deal may get in the way.
  2. Thanks for the updates. I'm boatless right but hope to remedy that soon and post some reports.
  3. The usual routine was not working Sat morning. Beating the bank with a top water yielded on one 13" bass. I don't care for fishing boat docks, but was proud of my self for yanking one out flipping the Ned. New tactic next week. I'm rigging up with as jig, spoon and drop shot and fishing offshore. Force myself to stay off the bank. Got just the basic fish finder, but it will at least let me locate structure. Something tells me this is not going to go as planned.
  4. Went after the early top water bite with my trusty Tiny Torpedo this morning. Caught four, three just below 13 inches and one at 17", add in a couple of bluegill and it was a good trip. They were not hitting aggressive, just kinda swallowing the lure. Nice watching a couple of raccoons working the bank and then a fox came trotting by as well.
  5. Good day on the lake. Beat the banks from 5:45 am to 9:30 am. Caught several nice chunky slot bass. Mostly on a Tiny T, one on a shallow running crank. Starting to figure out which sections of shoreline produce for me. Wanted to boat a couple 12 inchers or two for the skillet, but all slots.
  6. Chunked a topwater slush bait and a chugger for about 45 min before sunrise, no takers. That always lower my confidence going forward. I'll be concentrating on learning Windsor for the balance of the summer.
  7. For some reason when I was pulling out of the driveway this morning I decided to go to Lake Ann instead of my planned Lake Windsor. Wish I had stuck to the original plan. Only two 13 inch bass, one on a crank and one a drop shot. But it was my first bass on a drop shot, so I got that going for me. Back to Windsor on the next trip.
  8. Forgot to mention. I was motoring over to a new spot and as I approach a cove I see a guy swimming. Out for his morning exercise but if he did not have that blue noodle float in tow I would not have seen him and would have come way to close to him. He was in a black swim suit. Great exercise, but a bit risky.
  9. I launched at the south end, was done by 10:00 am. Give me a holler is you see a red Crestliner VT-17 on the water. Not many of them around this area.
  10. After Brittany almost threw me a shutout Saturday, I high tailed it over to Windsor this morning. Four bass, three were nice slot bass and several bluegill with eyes bigger than their stomach. Only two of the six or seven would have been worth keeping. Beat the banks with a Baby Torpedo, Rapala X-Rap Prop and a small spinner with gold/silver blades. At the last minute out the door I picked up a light jacket, glad I did. It was a bit cool but the jacket made it a perfect morning. No boats in sight until well after sunrise. I may be done with Brittany, it's just tough on me. Good looking lake, but the chance for larger bass is not worth coming up empty. I have to put some electronics on the boat before summer, I want to fish offshore once the heat gets here.
  11. I was in the red Crestliner. I was at the dock when you were dropping off one of the guys from your boat. Going to hitting it this afternoon when the rain finally quits and tomorrow morning, not sure which lakes yet.
  12. Took advantage of a weather forecast with no rain in the immediate future to beat the banks with a Tiny Torpedo. I was hoping to raise a bass at least one pound but nothing doing. Put 10 or so dinks in the live well for a fish fry. Caught most on the topwater and a few on the Ned but they didn't want anything to do with the Wiggly Wart. Water of course a little high and off color, but not too bad. I really enjoy fishing Norwood, very peaceful, pretty lake with natural banks. Only a few bulkheads and docks. Just wish it wasn't so stunted with small bass. If I ever get some decent electronics on the new boat, I want to fish offshore and see if my quality of fish increases. Just finished pan frying them up with some of Cabela's fish seasoning. Not bad, but bass ain't Rainbow Trout. Guess I have a beer and wait for the next thunderstorm to roll in.
  13. I got a fly fishing guide trip to Taneycomo this coming Saturday. Bill Babler (your recommendation) told me about on our trip. I'll probably hit Windsor Sunday and I'll get the Carolina rig a go. Thanks for the tip, I can use all I can get.
  14. Started off at daylight during what I enjoy most, beating the bank with a top water. Picked up two bass quickly, both in the cut off the boat launch at Harlow. One a slot and the other a dink. I'm trying to get better at deeper water tactics but I am just not very skilled yet. Used my fish finder to locate some structure and worked it with a Ned but nothing doing. I have a very basic grey scale Lowrance X-4 that will be soon upgraded to the Elite 7 Chirp. I hope to mark way points of structure and continue to learn. Maybe drop shot or jig the structure. In desperation, I used the wind that picked up at 10:00 or so to drift across the main body dragging a Ned rig, figured for sure I would hit on something. No dice. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
  15. I'm going out with James Whittle tomorrow for a fishing lesson. I was hoping to come back Saturday to put it to use, but maybe not based on the tournament news. Maybe I'll just stay around the house and fish a BV lake.
  16. I was looking in the "Other Ozark Lakes" section for BV lake updates and did not see much current. I fished Norwood on a Saturday 4/18 in a light rain. Beating the bank with a Wiggle Wart, kept six dinks per Darrell Bowman the lake biologist's instruction. Plan to fish BV most weekends with a trip to Beaver and Table Rock here and there. I'll post my results and maybe this section will get some activity. Next weekend I'll get the Ned going and see what I can do. Fished Brittany last weekend. Went for bass but three rainbow trout had other ideas. All on a Wiggle Wart. Tried to fish Windsor early Sunday morning but was surprised by the chilly north wind and gave up real quick. I did almost land a nice bass fishing in the cut to the ramp off Harlow on a top water. Guess I need to suck it up, but just got a chill and didn't want to play anymore.
  17. I've been reading daily on this site for some time. Went out a few times as well. Based on someone's recommendation (maybe Quillback's, not sure) I will be taking a vacation day Wednesday and going on a guide trip with James Whittle. Had a guide trip last week with Bill Babler at Table Rock. I am attempting to fast track my learning curve on fishing techniques for these deep and clear Ozark lakes. Most of my fishing life was spent in the Houston area where 18" of clarity is considered clear and 5' is getting kinda deep. Few questions, I have my Fishing Spot map spread out on the dining table and use if for reference while reading these posts. It has points of interest containing fishing spots 1-47 and way points 1-22. When someone refers to point 12, are they referring to either of these or something else? I saw a few signs on the lake with large numbers and was thinking maybe this is it. I've got 62 other questions but I'm tired of typing. Thanks
  18. I am in the same situation. New to Beaver Lake, so I have got two fishing guides lined up for Beaver in the next two weeks to give me an instructional guide trip on fishing Beaver in general and sonar will also be a primary focus. Got a new boat and have not bought electronics yet, so I want to understand what I need and how to read it once I get it. It ain't cheap paying for the guides, but I figure it's the fastest way to get to a decent understanding of the lake and sonar. Like the above posts say, watching Utube ain't the same as live experience.
  19. Thanks for the direction, I'll call today.
  20. I want to start fishing Beaver but do not have any experience with structure fishing. Bass fishing up to this point has been mostly beating the shore line at Bella Vista lakes in early morning with top waters. Got a new boat and ready to go but need some education to shorten the learning curve. Any suggestions on Beaver Lake guides specifically for bass? I don't want a guide to just catch fish for a day, more so someone willingly to provide instruction and fielding some Q&A. I have a Beaver tailwaters trout guide, a Table Rock bass guide and a Taneycomo trout guide lined up for Apr/May. I might as well add Beaver Lake to the group. Go fishing and not catching anything gets old quick.
