  1. Up at Taylor shoals last night and couldn't see them in the water like earlier this week which was thick. So was wondering if anyone knows if they kept moving up or just back into the deep water to hide from the chaos of all the people and boats Saturday. I did alright once everyone was gone finally gave up at about 2 am
  2. Don't have a pic on me and not sure how to load one if I did, but if you Google swimming minnow and look at images they are the ones with curly tails. Fin and feather in Springfield carries them
  3. Went last night caught 10 threw back 3 dinks and brought home 7 good males, my buddy brought home 3 and he also got a channel cat on purple minnow, go figure! all mine were on my fly rod, it was a blast except 3 nice ones got off close to the bank so I switched to a larger hook.
  4. So I know the water is still up but how's the clarity, or has anyone had much luck night fishing? TThinking about taking the boat down tonight and boating up to the shoals, I've heard they were there before the last flood. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
  5. Camped at Cricket Monday night with my buddy and our wives. Had to go way up long creek to find some whites, talked to a few people and apparently we didn't go up far enough on Monday day so we went as far as we could take a prop boat this morning. Between last night and this morning we only got 12 whites between the 4 of us, only 1 female but really good males. Not as many as I had hoped for but the wives caught their first fishes, hopefully that will lead to alot more fishing in the future! No better way to spend a 30th birthday! Also I don't think we caught any 2 fish on the same lure, can't figure that one out.
  6. Lots of people use A-rigs, I prefer a light rod 6# test and 1/8 or 1/4 ounce jig head with a swimming minnow or a slider. If the water levels drop down I'll be using a fly rod with a clouser minnow. Hope that helps.
  7. Clouser minnow more than likely, with a fly rod, purple with some flash after dark
  8. 23 between 3 of us last night from 6 to midnight, most below and a couple before the shoal. but fishslayer is right a little to murky for good night fishing.
  9. second this, table rock dam has very little to do with the water level up as far as blunk. Also the river levels link pinned at the top of the forums is very helpful.
  10. Thanks for the info, I might wait till wednesday night, let the water get a little lower
  11. Thinking about going tomorrow evining, not sure if I should take the boat or just the kayaks. Anyone know how bad it is to get to the shoal after the floods we've had
  12. Finger nail polish? Maybe
  13. Just pulled the boat out. Saw 2 or 3 other boats and a hand full fishing from the bank, mostly at the pot hole. Didn't see a fish caught.
  14. Is it even worth hauling a boat down there
  15. Anyone around Forsyth know the water conditions around swan after the rain? Wanting to come down this afternoon to try for some whites up swan or towards the pothole. Thanks
  16. Dang storm just popped up out of nowhere, maybe tomorrow night
  17. Fishslayer I'm thinking about taking the kayaks to blunk tonight, would I be better off to paddle up to the shoals or go toward the lake? Or is the water a little rough for the kayaks? Any info is much appreciated.
  18. Thanks for all the updates im pretty excited about tomorrow, so glad I found this forum
  19. Going tomorrow morning, I'm so excited I probably won't even sleep tonight! Any pointers for me? Hopefully I will be able to share a pic like that tomorrow.
  20. Heard some reports of whites being up at the pot hole and heading into swan, I drove by yesterday around 2:00 while working and didn't see a boat or anyone fishing, however it was rainy. So can anyone confirm or deny whites up there? Also do striper run the same time, or are they a little later? Thanks in advance!
  21. I was up swan at the bluffs yesterday water was clear but no fish, it was a little windy and kinda rainy though.
  22. Dembones, whites at blunk already? Do you know if the water has cleared up? We ran a boat up the james to mccord on Monday and it was still full of debris and no visibility. no bites just got to see others jerk at spoonbills
