  1. Glad you had a good time and caught some stripers.
  2. I fished a few days 2 weeks ago. I caught stripers from Point 2 to Point 1. The fishing seems to be hit and miss and the bite doesn't last long. I think you can do good if you have several rods in the water when the stripers start feeding. This is a good advantage for live bait. I was on the water by 5:00 am. The best color for me was blue and white.
  3. Unfortunately the only way to get a rental boat out at dawn is to do a multi-day rental which is not good for you. If you have another person to split the cost you could hire a guide for a little more money. The extra money would be the downside, but the upside would be that since you only have 1 day a guide would know where the stripers are and exactly what they are hitting on.
  4. I was using spoons. Looked like most people were using live shad or shiners.
  5. In the boat by 5:15 and headed to Points 1 and 2 to find some stripers. There were several fishing boats in the area. I caught a few every morning. The latest I got a bite was 8:30. All my bites were on yellow, chartreuse and orange. The fish seemed like they were moving quite a bit. They would be on the fishfinder and then nothing. I noticed the guide boats were also moving quite a bit. Hopefully this heat wave will let up a little, but it is still great to watch the sunrise on Norfork.
  6. I went fishing at dawn. There were a lot of small bass feeding in the area in front of Blue Lady docks. I found a few Stripers at Robinson Point. They were in the 20 - 24 inch range. I probably should have went towards the dam. I suspect the larger stripers have made the move that direction. Chartreuse and orange were good colors. There was a big log floating vertical across from the Fout boat dock. The lake is clearing up nicely.
  7. You are close to Fred's Fish House.
  8. I had 2 cousins drive in from Texas and wanted to fish for stripers for their first time. I had told them the weather was going to be all over the place, but they were fine with that. The fish size were nice with 9 pounds being the smallest and 12 pounds being the largest. They were just few and far in between. It was about only 1 fish every 2 hours for the entire group. We did find one school busting the topwater, but still only got 1 fish out of the group. We tried several spots from the bridges to the Fout area. We had crazy wind Tuesday afternoon as the storm front came through. Saw several big logs floating from Bennett's to Crystal Cove. They had a great time overall. It is always great to be out on the waters of Norfork.
  9. Read the fishing reports and some guides were saying the stripers and hybrids were in the Bennett's area. Went fishing on Tuesday the 13th and the guides were correct. They were in the Bennett's area. Wind gusts were up to 20 mph. Hard to keep the boat were I wanted it. Was able to catch 2 nice stripers and 1 hybrid. The fish were strong, so I released all of them. I was looking forward to fishing on Wednesday since the wind was going to be low. Went to the exact same places at the same time of day on Wednesday and did not get a bite. I did not see much on the fishfinder. Tried a few different places and could not find them. I guess they followed the shad schools to a different area. Still great to be able to fish on Norfork.
