Hopefully this link will work. Here are some photos from our trip to Dry Run Creek. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=7401&id=1776041241 Had a great trip. We caught lots of fish. Biggest were about 18 inches. Caught them on wooly booger mostly (white, olive, black, and brown), egg pattern and a few on the San Juan worm. If the link doesn't work, let me know and I will try to post some individual pics.

Probably going to be camping below the dam at Norfork this weekend. How has Dry Run been fishing lately? What has been working best? We normally hit it with wooly boogers, san juan worms, and egg patterns and that typically does pretty well. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance. Matt

If the shipping is not too high and we can get that worked out, I would be interested in both of them.

Well, we had a great trip. Didn't just wear the fish out, but Kalum got to catch plenty. Left at around 8 a.m. and got to Turner's around 6 pm. The weather was great and the river as beautiful. Kalum and I had a great day. He probably go to land a dozen or more nice trout. No monsters, but they were around 14 inches. We caught every fish on an egg pattern, though we were fishing with both stoneflies and crawdad patterns as well. We fished pretty hard. I spent the first half of the day just letting Kalum fish while I helped him work his casting and presentation. He really got a blast out of doing by himself the last half of the day with no help from Dad. Again, we got a canoe from Brian at Eleven Point Canoe Rental. He runs a great operation. Tito at the shop even gave me one of his crawdad patterns he had tied to try out. Brian and a guide trip on the river and we passed by him early in the day. Even with paying customers he gave us some tips on what to use and what to do when we went by. Brian is really a first class guy. I really appreciated the information since I wanted this to be a great day for my son. Just couldn't ask for a better day. Here are some photos from the trip. pic 1 pic 2 pic 3 pic 4

My 12 yr son and myself are going to give the Eleven Point another try on Friday. Last trip got cancelled because of a big rain. I am looking forward to floating the river, catching some nice trout, watching my son catch alot of fish (hopefully), and getting to spend a great day on the river with my son by ourselves. This will be his first float flyfishing trip. He has gone flyfishing with me before, but we have never done the float trip before. He is very excited and so am I. Hope to have a report for you after Friday. Matt

If plans don't change, me and my 12 yr old son are going to float Greer to Turner on Friday. Hopefully catch some trout on the flyrod. This will be his first time floating on the Eleven Point. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Looks for now like the weather should be good. Looking forward to a good time on the river with my son and hopefully catching some nice fish. Matt

Just to give credit where it is due. Tito Degiosio that works at Eleven Point Canoe was the one who told me to use the egg pattern with a stonefly dropper and it really worked. Brian always gives good info as well, but I can say I never had to change up my flies except for moving my indicator and split shot every now and then. I appreciate the info Tito, it made for a great day of fishing. I didn't take a camera with me on this trip, but you can be sure I will next time I go.

Four of us floated from Greer to Turner on Friday. We rented canoes from Eleven Point Canoe Rental. Got some good info from the guys at Eleven Point Canoe, some flies, and off to the river. Before we even got started good, we lost the top half of one of the flyrods. It got caught on a branch as we went under a overhanging branch and before we could get turned out of the current the line broke and the top half of the rod had come loose and fallen into the river. Deep slow run and we were unable to find it. Anyway, at the first stop between the four of us we caught about 18 rainbows. What a way to start the day!!!!! And it never really slowed down the rest of the day. I caught four at the first stop. All of us were using a different setup. I was using an egg pattern with a black w/ blue stone fly dropper. Another guy was using a Don's craw pattern. My brother was using an egg pattern with a brown stone fly dropper. Other guy was changing up quite a bit using switching between egg, Don's craw, stoneflies of various colors and big nymphs. I only caught one fish on the egg the whole day. Everything else was on the black w/ blue stonefly. Had to use alot of weight to get it deep. I was using a 3 wt and really struggled keeping the fish on when in the stronger current. I bet I let 12 or more fish off before I could lay my hands on them. I think next time I am going to take my 5 wt. Lost several very nice fish. Lots of hookups and lots of fights. I probably landed a dozen or more. My brother had the catch of the day in terms of number and size. He caught most of his on a brown stonefly pattern, but he also caught several on his egg. He was using more weight that I was and I am guessing that is why he was getting more hits on the egg. I believe his egg was getting deeper than mine was, but that is only speculation. I also had lots of fish chasing my stone fly as I was bringing it back in at the end of the run. I am guessing a big wooley booger would have produced fish. I caught several picking up the line at the end of the run. I watched several trout miss short and had one actually come out of the water after my stone fly as I was picking it up to recast. I don't have a exact fish count, but I feel pretty comfortable saying between the four of us we caught 40 to 50 rainbows. I was a great day on the river. Everytime I go, I can't believe I don't do it more often. I has been over a year since I have been on the river and I live less than an hour away. Just to give Brian's operation a plug, they are a great bunch of guys. They will help you out and give you information to help you catch fish. I used the setup I was told about by one of the guy's working for Brian and it produced fish for me all day. Great day, great river, can't wait to do it again. Matt

NAP Spitfire 100 grain. I have used these for years and only remember one deer that I have shot with these that got more than 50 yards after it was shot. Most dropped within eyesight.

I would like to meet some people that have the stripers and crappie figured out on Norfork. I just got a boat last year and tried the crappie fishing a little, but because of the water conditions never really did any good. I am not real familiar with fishing the clear water on Norfork. Most of my prior fishing was on KY lake throwing shad soft plastics over crappie beds in 9 -12 ft of water. I'm not a big largemouth fisherman, but I would love to meet some people that can show me some stuff on Norfork as far as the crappie and stripers go. I live in West Plains, MO and would be happy to meet someone on the lake some time. Any information would be appreciated. Matt

Yes, he is!!!! If he didn't live in a park, he probably wouldn't last too long. He stayed within 50 to 60 yards of the road for well over an hour. I almost hit him early in the morning when we were making a run into Van Buren to grab breakfast. He was chasing two does around. We sat and watched him for probably 5 or 10 minutes from the truck on the way to town. When we came back, he was still within 50 yards of where we saw him last and the doe was bedded down with him. Again, we sat around for 5 or 10 minutes and watched him and he was never farther than 50 or 60 yards from us.

Well, we didn't do great, but we didn't get skunked either. We gigged about 9 on Friday night and 12 on Saturday. We put in at Big Springs both nights. Friday night we might as well have had the river to ourselves. Never saw another boat on the river. Saturday night we only saw two other boats on the river. Both nights were great nights to be out on the river.

I went to Van Buren this weekend with some buddies to do some gigging on the Current River. Anyway, we camped at Big Springs Park while we were there. Saturday morning I took these pictures of a buck we saw in the park. We saw probably 5 or 6 different bucks and all but one was chasing does.

I finally got some pictures uploaded of our trip.

Thanks for the info Riverman. We put in at Waymeyer last year and didn't do very well. There were more boats than fish. Hopefully it will be a little better this year.
