Fished the duck tales benefit tourney today. Had 61 boats show up. Started the morning ran toward Indian. Hit a gravel point early throwing topwater no love. Also was doing some dropshot couldn’t get bit. Partner was dragging a jig and loaded 3 keeper smallies in a hurry. As the sun got up we started flipping flutter spoons in dock stalls. Had a lot of bites but would come unbuttoned as you brought up to the boat. I caught a 18 inch Kentucky. Filling out four fish limit. 15.57 won it. Fun day
The steering is tight. It’s sitting on a 8 inch jack plate. Also this skeg protecter I thought may be throwing it off? Don’t know that it’s necessary thought about taking it off also. Correction to earlier post it’s a 25 pitch fury.
I don’t know if someone has messed with the prop. But it looks brand new and doesn’t have a nick in it. I think it more then likely has been worked. Honestly when I look at the motor from the back it doesn’t look completely square. I know it wouldn’t take a 1/16 of a inch to throw it off. I will add some picture and measure the offset when I get back to the house. I was thinking of possibly trying a 4 blade prop.
Thanks for the input wrench! Took the new boat out yesterday. I am having a issue. The boat leans hard to the right when I am climbing out of the hole. When I get on pad and trim up it levels out. But all my prop wash is shooting out the left side. This is a 225 pro xs with a atlas hydraulic jack. Running a 26 pitch fury prop. Boat pretty well empty haven’t loaded much into it yet. Have any ideas what I can do to solve this. Boat is a 2010 nitro z8.
Hey guys wanted some ideas on a issue I am having. I just bought a new to me z-8 nitro. I put a ultrex trolling motor on it. My issue is the foot control does not really fit in the recessed floor. I need to shim up the front a little so there isn’t pressure on my wires. Has anyone else ran into this and what was the solution? Thanks. I was thinking just plastic shims but wanted to see what others had done
I have been waiting for your opinion. I don’t really know why other then I know you know a lot about all engines. I wanted your opinion on this engine to make myself feel better. truth is I bought the boat. If you recall I had the motor that caught fire from the regulators this weekend. I can’t keep dumping money into that boat. But buying a new to me boat makes me nervous because it’s a lot of hard earned money. Just wanting to get the good and bad of this motor. I have been dealing with a 91 motor for 10 years. I was worried about it having such low hrs. I have heard if it sits it’s just as hard on them as being run hard. I feel like I stole this boat just don’t know much about the motor. Any insight would be appreciate. Wrench thanks for all you do on this forum!
I know this is a dangerous question but fishenwrench, what are you thoughts on this engine? Or any one else for that matter. I am looking at buying a nitro z-8 with this set up. Engine has 115 hrs on it 110 of them being at less then 1500 rpm .
Thanks rps for the info! I knew nothing about the area just happened across it looking for something new to scope out. Although I didn’t make it down that way I hope to in the future. Here is a pic of the black my nephew caught on our slow but still fun trip back to the knob. It wasn’t all bad I found a lot of different features of the lake I otherwise would have scooted across at 60mph.
Thanks wrench. This was hooked up to a 3 week old interstate battery. Should I worry about the stator or any of the wiring as far as possibly being a cause? Or do I just chalk it up to being one those things that happens and move on? I plan on replacing this myself but won’t if another issue needs to be tracked down.
Was fishing today when I noticed smoke rolling out of my engine cover. After coming off plane. Took cover off found my voltage regulator was on fire! Quickly dis connected the battery. And used trolling motor to get back to truck. This is what I found when I got back to the house. I am guessing something shorted out but what is my best way of tracking it down? Thanks for any help.
Thanks for the info didn’t make it to the backbone. Put in at shell knob with plans to boat their. Had a electrical problem on my engine think the voltage regulater fried and caught fire. Have been trolling back to the knob since about 7 this morning. Have caught one Kentucky on a dropshot and about a 3lb black on a swim jig..... it’s getting hot!
Hey guys looking for some info on the devils backbone/big m area. Wanting to come down and drop shot/ spoon fish. Was Thinking about checking this area out. Just looking for advice on where to start as it’s a 1 1/2 drive from my place to big m. Also kinda hoping that maybe there would be less wake boat traffic that direction. I typically fish around aunts creek or Indian and it’s just a zoo right now.
