    hornyhead, I still haven't been able to fish it. When I sm off work the water has been rolling. It is above 4000 CFS right now. If anyone else has had a chance to fish they must be keeping tight lips about it. Steve

    web, The fly that you posted from FAOL is one of mine. I have caught several species of fish with it, as have others who have tried it. I have found it to be a good smallmouth bass fly as well as a good trout fly. As Leonard hinted at, you can palmer the pine-squirrel zonker strip in front rather than using hackle, ala the "Slump-Buster", but I prefer the soft-hackle collar.     Sadly, it seems to be one extreme or the other this year. There has been too much water the last couple of weeks to even think about trying it. Steve

    I tried it for a couple of hours yesterday morning. The water was at 537 cfs and has cleared nicely since the last time I was there. I tried 4 areas that usually hold fish and had no luck. The only fish that I caught were a few buffalo that I foul hooked. I will keep trying and eventually I will find some stripers and hybrids down there. Steve

    polock, I was a memeber several years ago. When I joined, I told them that I fly fish and that trout were my primary target. They kept sending me plastic worms (the kind for bass fishing) and 14lb test line and stuff that I had no use for. I gave all of it away to folks that I know would use it. I did not renew my membership. Steve

    Mikey, I don't listen to anything but nature while fishing, but getting to the river and back are another story. It takes me 5 hours to get to Mountain Home and about 3 1/2 hours to Taney. A couple of tapes that are a permanent part of my road music are "Endangered Species" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and "A Piece of Your Soul" by Storyville. Other than those, it could be something by John Prine, Delbert McClinton, Watermelon Slim, etc. Steve

Minimum flow is around 100-150 cfs. The fish will bite on the coldest days. The real secret to catching them is finding them. Steve

    I tried my luck this morning. The water level was good, about 260 cfs, but it was extremely murky from the runoff. I fished for a couple of hours with no strikes and decided to call it quits. The fishing should be good when the water clears a little. Steve

    McManus, I don't know what others are using but I have had good results using Delta "Ceramcoat" paints from Michael's craft store. I have coated them with either Sally Hansen's "Hard As Nails" or clear Loon "Hard Head" after the paint dries. Steve

    They have finally started letting some water out at Keystone Dam. It is at 4,960 cfs right now. It has been at around 45 cfs for months. I will try to get down there and try the fishing this weekend. Steve

    Zackro, I'm sure this isn't the reply that you were hoping for, but it is my best advice. If they are generating from Tenkiller you might as well go somewhere else to fish. I only know of two areas that are fishable there during generation, and neither have been productive for me. Steve PS I would lose the caps if I were you. They are unnecessary and annoying.

    Mikey, I would suggest that you check this link for flows before heading over there. They have been running water 24/7 since Jan 1st. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=07198000 Normal flows (no generation) will be 150cfs or less. Right now it is at over 4000 cfs. Great for striper fishing from a boat but not wadable. Steve

    jay bird, I haven't been since my last report, a few weeks ago. I have been checking the cfs every day, and it has been in the 40's. the last 2 or 3 times that I have been with those low flow rates were not productive. I am waiting to see it get over 200 cfs before I try it again. Steve

    Vernille is also more plush than regular chennile. Look for a product called "Ultra Chenille". It is the same thing as vernille. It is the stuff that is used to tie San Juan Worms, and for that application, regular chenille just doesn't work as well. Steve

    I crush the barbs on all my hooks for the reasons that you have listed, and also because the hooks are easier to remove on those occasions when they are imbedded in parts of my body. Steve

    Fish Bork, I was there this morning and the water is very low. I only managed to catch a few buffalo and 1 sucker, no stripers or hybrids. I am hoping that we will get more water in the river soon, it needs it badly. Steve

    Zach, I am a member of Tulsa Fly Fishers. The club that hosts the tournament is in Talequah. You don't have to be a member of that club to participate, you just need to show up with $5. By the way, the $5 also buys you lunch. Steve
