  1. I am planning a fall trip to Taney; heard this was a good time to catch some big browns. I would appreciate anyone insights. Thanks.
  2. Thanks alot for the update, Brian. What would suggest as far as approaching the river during this time of the year when the middle of day is not as productive? Is a float still the best way to go? Thanks.
  3. Anyone have a recent fishing report? I am thinking of trip this week and planning where to go. Thanks.
  4. Anyone been on the little sac recently? When does the fishing start to heat up? Thanks.
  5. Brian, I am planning on tying some patterns in hopes for trip to the North Fork in the next few weeks. Do you mind telling me what sizes you recommend for nymphs and dries? Also, do you tie your 20-incher with peacock herl (abdomen, grey rabbit dubbing (thorax)and dark or light hen hackle for the legs? Thanks.
  6. Do you have a book that you could recommend for someone who is a beginning walleye angler (few trips to Canada) and would like to learn how to capitalize on the opportunities around here?
  7. I regularly fish the 4-6 miles downstream from confluence of Bennett and the Niangua. I have never fished up or downstream from that area, but have heard both are really nice. I do okay when I target smallmouth in the area I fish, but just okay. I really enjoy smallmouth on the flyrod and would love to find a reliable stretch of water to get to know.
  8. Thanks for the great information. I am frequent fisher on the Niangua; I fish Bennet Spring input and the next 6 miles or so. I have caught some really nice smallmouth, although I typically target trout. You mention the runs on the Sac are predictable. Is it weather, month or little of both? How long do they run? Although any day on the water is worth it, it would be nice to not have to travel from KC just to miss it. I have a kick boat, by the way.
  9. Are you guys referring to the upper or lower Niangua (or both)?
  10. OK, Butts. Have at it. I won't blame you for not giving up your best secrets, maybe just enough to get me started this spring.
  11. Yeah, I live in KC and fish mostly on the Niangua. I have been wanting to try the Little Sac for a couple of years and have not gotten around to it. I will start the topic as you requested. Thanks for the help.
  12. I haven't done any white bass fishing since I was a kid and never wtih a fly rod. When do you go and what do you use? I would probably float it in a kickboat; would I expect to mostly fish from the boat or get out and wade "fishy" areas?
  13. Thanks alot Butts. I will keep you posted if I get a chance to try it this year.
  14. I heard the Little Sac is a great river to flyfish for smallmouth. Does anyone have any tips/experience they are willing to share? Thanks.
  15. This forum is great and I have really enjoyed your updates, Brian. You probably don't remember, but you were my first trout fishing guide about 3 years ago in July. In addition to a ton about flyfishing, you taught me to double haul in preparation for bonefishing trip and your teaching paid off..never got around to thanking you. My question, if you don't mind: Is there enough time in these short days to float the North Fork in a kickboat this time of the year? If so, what put in/take outs do you recommend? Thanks.
  16. I have just started into walleye fishing and my best fishing buddy has a place on Greer's Ferry, but he has never fished for walleye there. Does anyone have any advice for getting started on this lake or for a guide who can show me around?
