  1. Sam, I assume the same is correct for the road off Highway K that accesses the river above Medlock Cave? Thanks for all input guys. It looks like Welch to Pulltite is the plan.
  2. What about overnight parking at Welch? Anyone know for sure?
  3. I checked the MDC Atlas and both roads are shown as dotted lines, which generally indicates a private road. But, the areas are within the NPS boundary so one would expect they are public, or at least quasi public. Good luck getting some info.
  4. If memory serves correctly there's no overnight parking at Welch landing. Anyone know for sure? Secondly, there's a road off K that accesses a cleared area (on the east side of the stream, above Medlock Cave.) Is that a public road? That area there looks developed from the Google Earth aerials but it's not mentioned in Oz Hawksley, the NPS map, or any other source I'm aware of. Google Earth doesn't have a name for the road either. Thanks for any pointers.
  5. I swore off the Current in 1996 after a hellacious July weekend trip in which the river was overrun by idiot party floaters. One group caused me to swamp and I lost my glasses and other gear, which was the last straw on a terrible day. But I rediscovered the Current just last year when we went in November, and it was jaw-droppingly beautiful and serene. We've gone again this fall and hope to go again soon. If y'all haven't been on the Current in the winter, try it. It's wonderful. I want to get into the summer smallmouth water but pretty much need a weekday, which is hard to come by for me. One of these years.....
  6. Welch to Akers is a beautiful stretch. You might want to wade up from Akers, there's an unimproved road you can use to get to certain spots if you can't wade. The immediate area around Welch gets fished hard. I'd like to know more about Cedargrove to Welch. Is this section wade-able?
  7. Hello, The USGS gage today was 1.12 above Akers. Is that adequate water to float from Baptist Camp to Cedargrove? Thanks
