The White was shut off at NOON Today. Did have a buddy up from Shreveport fishing today. He said he did Extremely well on the fork as well as the white. 30+ on the fork and 25+ on the white. Dr. Gonze on the EZ board is Mark Lavelle and extremly accommplished fisherman and one heck of a caster. Some access in the C&R area would definatly be something the AG&F should look at and I hope they can be of some assistance in this area. Jimmy T.

Not a problem Salmo, Midges for sure (Zebra and Blood), A scud type pattern, soft hackles, SJ Worms and Planaruim, Caddis pupae and larvae as well as PTs. Not much caddis by the dam. But some. The occasional Sulper which mostly blow over from the lake. On windy days your drys will work pretty well by the dam. A generic Bi-Visible type fly is a good one up there. Good luck jimmy t.

Hope I spelled it correctly. The fish were taking them pretty well. We did use a dry with a dropper emerger but the emerger worked better. Also fished at the dam for the first time in two weeks and it is fishing somewhat better now. Blood midges and various colors of the SJ Worm under an indicator w/ shot and scaling down as the water levels dropped form two to one units. Would love to get into a caddis hatch on a no generation senario float trip down to cotter from say the public ramp at gastons about 14 miles. Now that would be fun. Did also see some black caddis down at ranchetts on wednesday. jimmy t.

ST. Not a problem on dropping water for sure and on a unit or two for caddis. In fact yesterday we fished caddis dry with emerger dropper on a dropping two units. I have seen sulphers come off the water on 6 units at wildcat shoals and near the banks and in eddy water down stream from this shoal on my runs back up from cotter over the years. I don't ever remember seeing caddis come off the water with more than two units but have seen them bounce and drop eggs in the water on most levels of water. You definatly can fish the hatch on a couple of units which can reach about 4,400 CFS depending on which two units are actually turned and wether or not they are on full bore. We should start seeing sulphers about the time you show up on the upper end above cotter and mabey a little sooner above the norfork....Much more diversity in Mayflies further down stream...Especially where the buffalo river empties into the white. Hope that helps. Jimmy T.

During generation fishing on the upper end by the dam down through White Hole has been pretty band and continued to be bad today. (Report I got from a guide who had 10 boats out today with a TU event) Fishing downstream at Ranchetts and through that area continues to be good. We were able to wade fish all day in front of the water using varioous bugs, Caddis larvae, pupae, emergers, Buggers, blowflies and even Thread midges. See ya'll at the Sow Bug. Will have booth with tons of stuff and Tungsten beads 22,000 of them...Sure hope they come in on time. Jimmy T.

First time in a while the water was shut off for this amount of exted time. Once again we elected to fish down stream at the Ranchetts access area and the fish were trying to commit suicide on our flies. The fishing was so easy it didn't really matter what we threw at them. I'm sure it wont last however. BTW did anyone notice that there was a Lunar Eclips last evening??? Jimmy T.

Fishing the upper end has been tough...really tough...Between the number of boats, the chumming, all the shad that have been coming through at night I figure the fish are Fat, Happy, Full and most probably gorged to the hilt. On friday we had no choice but to fish the upper end as one of our fisherman was sick and wanted to rest in the morning and be picked up after lunch. We hi-tailed it out of there and headed for Ranchetts. What a difference 25 miles make. There have been reports of shad making it down that far but not like the numbers upstream. In the three hours we fished we boated 40+ fish and missed only know how many. Mostly blowflies with tungsten bead, egg patterns, midges and caddis larvae as there was a caddis hatch. As I said ina previous post I had spoken with Davy Wotton who reported that the caddis were think from Armstrong Hole down to Rim Shoals. Headed back down to Ranchetts today and give the upper end a break. Gonna fight the wind again today but not as bad down there as the first 8 miles of the white and far less crowded.... Jimmy T.

Caddis comin' to the White--The Danville fly
JimmyT replied to Patricks on the White's topic in White River
Spoke with Davy Wotton last evening. Grannum were coming off the water from Armstrong hole down through Rim Shoals yesterday. He said they got into some hot and heavey fishing. This hatch should move up the river steadily. I'll let him give his report. Jimmy T. -
There is also a map with more detail of the area and access and how to get there available at flyshops for $8.99 to 9.99 I have them on my flyshop page and include shipping and handling. They are water proof. Great maps and were just updated last year. Jimmy T.

Backcast 6, the beauty of 'trout crack' is it can pass as a Midge, Scud or even a sowbug if the profile is percieved by the fish from the top or bottom... It has been tried in many rivers throughout the country and even in europe. It's a good all round bug that's pretty simple.. Jimmy T.

Hey Back Cast 6, See the post about "Any Wadable Water" started by Asphault Monkey. He ask the same question and I gave some answers for hi water. Those answers would definaly change when lower water comes our way. I will be posting some access areas on my http://whiteriverfishingreport.blogspot.com in the near future so take a look and bookmark it for future reference. Jimmy T.

I spoke with a buddy about this problem and he concurs with your buddies in St. Louis. Jimmy T.

Good Luck Asphault. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. Jimmy T.

Hi Barbra, Don't let Pat give away too many secerets Jimmy T. -
Busch, So far it has. This development is across from Gastons and is being watched carefully. So far no runoff on heavy rains. I think they are well aware of the overlook fiasco...Davy Wotton and I regularly take pics of this as well as the one just down stream from Stetsons. This one actually concerns me more then the one upstream at the moment. There is some bare dirt that is exposed but no runoff on the last couple of rains. Jimmy T.
