  1. i totally agree with all of you...a good pair of glasses make all the difference in the world. I have action optics and i love them. I have the fishbone model in both amber and gray. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good pair. They are kind of pricey and not some glasses you will just want to throw on the dashboard of the car. I got mine somewhere in the $160 range per but there glasses range from $70-$170 so theres a pair for most any price range. I had a pair of nice oakley's (forgot the action's at home) with no retainer to keep them around my neck and was out fishing the big thompson near our house in colorado they fell off into the fast current and were lost for good I definitely reccommend having neckholders or a strap on them because not only do the glasses cost a bit of change, but most people dont keep two pairs on them at one time...and you dont want to risk a day on the stream losing them
  2. went to montauk yesterday (friday). I went and dumb me....forgot my flyrod. I had the spinning rod with me and a bunch of jigs i tied up luckily. Sizes and numbers of fish were excellent as usual for the c&r down there. A buddy of mine (steve) from work at bass pro shops drove down with me. The fish were hitting excellent and he did real well on stripping midges and other things through the current and dry midges up top when the big hatch occoured behind the lodge in the afternoon. we both had an excellent day and i caught at least 100 from 8:45 am - 4 pm. He caught one lunker which would have went around 25' and 7 lb.... I caught 5 lunkers in the 21-24 inch range which all would have went in the 4- 5 lb range. We saw a few other people down there who werent having much luck though. I was pulling the jig away from the lil guys when i was going after the bigones I was using just three or four color combos in jigs i tie all day. From what ive learned over the years that the differences in color or presentation than the guy next to ya will sometimes produce a 10:1 ratio in fish caught to the other guy. I suggest tying up some things these fish havnt seen and the results will be tenfold. A really good pair of optics helps along with the super clear water conditions at least for me My buddy has some pics he's emailing me of a couple of my fish and ill post them up later. It was a beautiful day and the fishing was excellent as usual kudos to the mdc.
