  1. Fished from 3:30 to 7:30 pm with my boys. Not too much to report, caught around 8 with 2 keepers, 9 year old lost one that looked around 3.5, came unbuttoned at the boat. I did however, catch a 6lb. 4 oz. according to my digital scales. Very shallow. Caught all fish on crankbait. Forgot, broke a good off on a jig. Had fun and didn't rain too much. Good luck when you get to go.
  2. I use the War Eagle Spoons and the Strata spoons from Bass Pro. I am really a novice when it comes to deep fishing. I only have a few places that I catch them at. I don't go there all the time, those spots are kind of community spots. A lot of guys fish them. I use the basic plastics on my drop shot, zoom, Luck e strike. My biggest obstacle when it comes to deep fishing is finding them. As far as techniques go, I find a fish or a group of fish and drop it, watching it on my graph, stopping it above the fish that seem to be active. I leave it for a short time if they don't eat it right away, then I pull it up and drop again. I usually get more bites on the drops, fewer when I yo you the bait. Hope this helps.
  3. I was catching them on a War Eagle in Blue Herring. I was really disappointed that they would not chase more than what they did. We are getting close to a time when they will pull into the cedars for a couple of weeks. Have been doing that for a few years now in September. It lasts a short time and then they come back in later in October. I throw the blue herring almost excluisvely on the Rock when I am fishing the main lake. Hope this helps.
  4. Fished from 5:15 am to 12:00. Caught about 10 or 12, not a very good day as far as catching goes. Caught 2 keepers. Caught them on spinnerbait. Caught some on spoon and drop shot, caught some swimming a jig around fallen trees. That was really about it. Did have one come out of a bush while I was waking a spinnerbait, but that was the only one I could raise doing that. My in Father in law and brother in law were fishing also in another boat, and they did well. I just didn't read the lake very well.
  5. Ok guys, as much as I hate to admit it, I was not very perceptive. Called Bill Long in Monett where I got my boat, he said he did not know much about the Minn Kota, but told me to look for a pin that could be possibly poking out somewhere. On the water the other day I did that, but did not notice one that sits right below the head of the trolling motor. Found it this evening as I was prepping the boat for the morning trip. There was a pin sticking out a little that the top bracket was hitting that I just did not notice the other day. Tapped it in and seems to be fine. Will know for sure in the morning, could not get the motor all the way down due to the tongue of my R93, it is not swing away so it cannot get past the tongue, but I am sure that is it. Well that is the fix for it. Pretty simple if your paying attention and checking it thoroughly. See ya on the water.
  6. Well called Marine Repair, and they have never heard of this problem. So I guess I will take it in when I get a chance. Let you know how it turns out when and if I get it to Springfield.
  7. Didn't work, dang. I will call marine repair in Springfield, I bet they might have an idea. Thanks again for the help.
  8. You think it would just show up after a long time of usage? I hope you are right, that would be an easy fix, I will look at it in a few minutes and let you know.
  9. Ok guys need some tm help. I have a Minn Kota Pro 80 w/ lift assist and it will not go all the way down. It looks like it is going to, but stops a little short of being down. Tried pusing it down and it will not go, anyone have an idea? Thanks.
  10. I know, am I crazy? Well, could be. The wife and boys wanted to go down and enjoy the nice weather so off we went to Big M. Fished mostly the backs of long coves and the backs of creeks with a jig and crankbait, all told probably caught 12 to 15 with 2 or 3 keepers, I can't remember. 2 for sure. Boys had a good time and the wife enjoyed her day of sunbathing and dodging treble hooks from the 9 year old. Good luck when you get to go. Oh, fished from 12:00 to 6:00.
  11. Fished from daylight til 2 pm. Pretty slow, caught a few short ones on fb jig and buzzbait early after that tried to dropshot, but don't where to find them, only caught one short. Sorry I had to give such a terrible report. Oh yea, fished from Baxter to Hwy 13.
  12. Yes, still running the same boat, but have upgraded electronics. Need to sell it, but hate to. Thanks for the reply.
  13. bassman What were you catching your night fish on? I don't night fish much at all, but it gives me and idea of what to do early in the morning. By the way, I did catch some fish on a buzzbait, I forgot to mention that in my report.
  14. Fished the Kings Sat. from about 5:45 am to 11:00. All in all had a great day, only caught 3 keepers, but caught fish all day long. Started out by burning a spinnerbait on bluff banks really shallow, my boat was almost on shore. Fished from Viola to Akin Back. At Akin Back started catching them flipping a Stacey King finesse jig. Probably caught in the vicinity of 25 total for the day. Water was 82 degrees.
  15. Chris You say there is a dock bite on the drop shot. Here is a couple of easy questions. What do you consider to be a good dock, at least what depth would it sit in? And, how do you work the dock, only the ends or do you work a portion of the sides? Thanks in advance. Fish
  16. Fished from noon until 7pm. Put in at Shell Knob and fished one deep dock with drop shot, caught 2 shorts, fished bridge pier at the SK, caught one on DS. Ran up the river, first stop nothing, throwing DD22. Second stop, caught one keeper on DD22. Moved up a little farther with and caught 3 off one point two keepers on worm. Worked my way up to Jake Creek caught one short on the way up there, went to the back and caught one keeper flipping bushes and caught about 10 on the way out with a rattle trap, none of those were keepers, but they were a lot of fun. Water gets a little more stained that far up, and I believe it is muddy not too far above Jake. Well that was it, it was a good day for me, enjoyed my time out. On a side note, while catching those rattle trap fish, my wife calls and says I need to get home, we a mountain lion in our back yard. So I bust it home to learn from her dad that sure enough we did, about a two year old by best estimate. Like I told her not the message I was expecting when I called.
  17. My brother and I were fortunate enought to get a guide trip through Bass Pro as a gift from a Springfield Cardinal game. We were very lucky in whom we got to fish with. None other than Charlie Campbell. What a great guy, he was quite the fisherman and a great guy to spend the day with. I will remember this trip forever. Very personable and polite, I could not have asked for anything better. Well let's get to the report. We fished out of Cape Fair, fished below there all day. Ran to point 14 and that was the furthest we made it. Caught 29 total with 9 or 10 keepers. Caught them on split shot and Eakins jig, most fish were fairly shallow. We sat our boat in 20-25 feet all day. It was a great day as far as I was concerned. Caught them better than I had been at Shell Knob. Well that is it for now, had some trips last week arougn SK and Kings River, but nothing as good as yesterday. Just got my computer back today, so have not been able to post. Good luck.
  18. Should be on Y highway before you get to the Campbell Point turn off, his shop is on the right and fenced in.
  19. Can Dan Langley not service a motor? I know that Bill Long in Monett could service it.
  20. Fished from about 4 pm to 8 pm. Caught less than 10 with one keeper. One on a carolina rig, the rest on a drop shot. Tried to fish one channel bank down around pt. 23 and caught a few, but they were hard to come by, saw very little fish on that bank, not saying they weren't there, I just couldn't find them. Caught a few more on flats and breaks and called it good and went home.
  21. Thanks Whack It got pretty bad at around 10:30 on Sat. May just wait and head down about 4 pm, may be better for me to do that. Thanks for the night report, don't get to do as much as I used to, glad to hear you caught some. EW
  22. I kind of goofed my message Crappie. I meant to type how was the boat traffic after 3 pm? Are there a lot of vacationing people down right now? Thanks
  23. Hey Crappie, Were you fishing channel swings and bluff ends also? I am headed down after summer school today to drop shot a little. How bad is it from say 3 pm until dark? The other day I caught most of my fish off of flat points, are they moving away from that? Thanks EW
  24. Sorry this is late, but my computer is down at the house and I did not work yesterday. So here was my day on the water on Saturday. Started fishing around point 22 a little after 5 am. Caught one short on a spook, fished for a while longer, nothing, sun was coming up, thought the fish would also. Moved to a couple more spots and only one more short. Was a little frustrated, thought they would come up earlier. They finally decided to come up and I caught several, too many to count, but did end up with 6 keepers, 4 on spook, and two on the drop. Lost two good ones on spook, but got to fight them a while. Probably caught 15 to 20 total. Good day for me. All the fish I caught came off of one point and one dock. Good luck
  25. Wish I could say I got bit, but it was hung in a bush, as much as I hate to admit it, I was just popping it off a limb and I guess I got carried away.
