  1. You are right Terry he is moving to a better location, over by Fin & Feather on campbell street. He told me he is moving after christmas, should be a good move, I think it will make it a lot eaiser to get to him when I need something. I wish him the best of luck in the move.
  2. I don't know what the weekends are like, but it wasn't to bad today, and there are alot of fish. There were probably 50 people from the boat ramp to the cable up by the dam. There was plenty of room, and the fishing was very good today.
  3. go to www.youtube.com and type in jig tying in the search box. There are several good videos on there that will help you get started. Some of these videos are pretty good some are not, but I think it will help you if you don't have anybody to help you.
  4. The river should clear up pretty quick, last week it came up a foot over night and was back to almost normal in 2 days. Fishing has been great on zebra midges, small scuds, brassies, pheasant tails and on small burlaps. You can always catch trout on small woolybuggers and cracklebacks, and we are still catching alot of fish on hoppers, ants, beetles, elk hair caddis, adams, griffiths gnats and on small lt cahills in the evening. The fishing has been really good the past 4 weeks, and this bit of water should just make it better.
  5. I tie and use #22 and #24 most of the time.
  6. I finally got mine in the mail today, kept forgetting.
  7. I've sold almost 100 of them this year, no problems with any of them yet, great reel for the $
  8. Wish I had known you were down there, Mrducky, I was there at 5 a.m. and didn't head home till about 11, I would have liked to have fished with you again. I left an hour or so after they turned the sirens on.
  9. it was nice on the water yesterday morning. Had to wear a light jacket, it was great.
  10. You can wade in the catch and release section(top part of zone 2) and you can wade all of zone 3, no wading in the fly fishing area below the C&R area, and no wading in zone 1.

    Crane Creek

It flooded prettty bad this weekend, saturday it was bank to bank and red brown, but it looked really good this morning, I stopped and fished a bit, didn't hook up anything, the water is still high, should be good towards the end of the month, or next week, it usually drops pretty fast. It was mostly clear this morning. should have read better, flies when the water is up, san juan worms, glo-balls, larger #10 and #12 bead head hares ears, and other nymphs like that, I also do well on bigger heaiver buggers when the water is up.
  12. I hate to admit it but the china made orvis reels seem as good as the english made reels, I sell a lot of both the BBS reels and the mid arbour and both are well made and have good drags. Either one you get should preform just fine.
  13. Gor-tex renforced with kevlar, now that is something I could use. Get on it Dano. Make them and I will buy a pair or two. You know waders are kinda like fly rods, they are getting higher and more hi-tec all the time, someday there will be a pair of waders that cost over $999.99, who would by a pair, lifetime warranty and all. Might be worth the cost, the way I go thru waders.
  14. Briar holes, I can live with, but in my looking, I have a bootie seam leaking very badly, so I'll pack them up and send them back, I've only had them 11 months, and they have warranty for seams or things like that for the life of the waders, and it says they will fix all the little holes for me also, the first time for free, so I'll send them in tomorrow and let them work em over. Dang that crane creek, I need to find some waders that are briar proof
  15. Yes, second pair this year to die of briar punctures, but you have to crawl thru briars to get to the fish, it is kinda like rabbit hunting, they lay up under the brush and hide, kinda like a rabbit. I found this on the simms web site, I missed it earlier. It works, I just found all 7 of my briar holes, now I have to fix them so I can fish tuesday, wednesday and maybe thursday Repairing Your Simms Gore-Tex Waders Tears, punctures and pinholes do happen. Luckily, Gore-Tex® waders are easy to repair. 1) Turn waders inside out. 2) Apply rubbing alcohol to suspect area. Leaks will show as dark gray spots. 3) Immediately apply AquaSeal® to the area and cure for six hours. Please note: this method will not work on seam leaks
  16. Ok, anybody got any good suggestions on how to find the little briar holes in my simms waders, I know I can fill them with water and look for the leaks, but there has got to be an eaiser way, let me know, what works best for you. I have the new style G3 Simms guide waders, not neoprene.

  18. If your eyes are the only problem, get your self a pair of flip focals, they run about 17.00 and are great, when I turned 40, I stopped fighting the eyesight thing and just started wearing them, they really help, I've been selling them for about 30 years, and for the money they are hard to beat. It fits right on your ball cap, I'll put a pic on in a little while.
  19. The spring is putting out more water, both gates are up about 1' first time I've seen the gates open since spring, the river is really at what I consider to be a normal level, it is in good shape, it cleared up a lot last night, it is still off colored, but at least you can see the fish, won't be great sight fishing probably untill this weekend. I had good luck on small #14 bead head woolybuggers last night. Jerry is not at the hatchery today, so nobody knows the true output, I'll ask him tomorrow and see how much the output has increased. I just talked to the hatchery, one gate is open 1 foot, the other about 5" so it hasn't came up a bunch, but it sure looks good.
  20. This is a favorite spot of mine on crane creek, I have caught a lot of nice fish from this area. http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u294/ti...nt=P8150006.jpg
  21. The park really looks good, 2 more inches of rain and I think we would have flooded bad, but we didn't and it didn't and the river looks great this morning, still stained but you can see fish in most of the holes, so if the rains don't come and hammer us again, the river should really be in good shape the rest of the season.
  22. Just checked the river, everything is still good, can't tell if it is still murky, it was to dark at 5:30 but the water level is about the same as it was last night, the fishing was good last night, I put on a # 16 flashback sowbug and caught 4 on it before it broke off, put a olive #14 woolybugger on and it caught 3 fish, put a black woolybugger # 12 on and caught fish almost every cast for about 15 minutes and then it just shut off for me, the water was mostly clear last night, you could see about 3 foot deep in some of the pools, the fish laying at the ends of the pools were easy to fish to. Roaring River did not flood last night
  23. The rain has stopped and the river has not flooded or really came up very much, but is still off colored. It will remain good unless we get a lot of rain tonight.
  24. It comes in handy, fishing these small streams in my area, sometimes a lefthanded cast is all you got to hit those small holes in the stream, I taught myself to do that years ago. It is worth the practice, because you'll need to do it someday.
  25. Grateful for the rain, and the river is still in good shape, it is cloudy but not to muddy, you can still see fish here and there. the falls are open just a bit, so the spring has come up a bit, we have received about 4" of rain here at the park, and it is still falling. here are pics of the river http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u294/ti...nt=P9070055.jpg http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u294/ti...nt=P9070054.jpg http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u294/ti...nt=P9070053.jpg
