I use 2 different hooks on the Sex Dungeon because of the material that one can hold over the other. The B10s is a standard stinger hook that wouldn't hold as much material for the size as the TMC 8089np. The 8089 is longer shanked allowing you to get that deer hair head on there and still have a body behind it. It is REALLY easy to crowd the eye on a #2 B10s if you are going to be stacking a deer hair head on it and I really don't want to step up to a size 1 or bigger for the dungeon because then it is added weight that really does make a difference in the action of this fly. The Dungeon is tricky, it is always on the border of not being right because of that almost neutral bouyancy that it has. If the head is too heavy then you basically have a Circus Peanut with a funky head, and if it is too light then the action goes to crap. I have tied several that didn't fish once I got them in the water and I finally figured out that the hook I was using, coupled with the amount of deer hair just fought each other and it started jigging.....which is the last thing you want with a Sex Dungeon.

North Fork River Property For Sale
Brian Wise replied to bknopf's topic in North Fork of the White River
Exactly. I think the assumption is that you can simply build anything you want wherever you want and do it in any way you want. Get too close to the river and DNR steps in and that makes things even more fun. A while back ROLF sent plans for approval to DNR for a landing on the river....they changed those plans how they saw fit and basically said "Take it or leave it." So there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than anyone that isn't building or doing anything around the river knows. -
Oh great....that hadn't been brought to my attention. Now that you have done so sir, I will hold you responsible when I cut my thumb off.

The seriously funny thing about this areas is the old, old, OLD landowners (cattle farmers the VAST majority) and the new retirees think the exact same way. The farmers won't have anyone tell them what they can and can't do with their land (and we are VERY lucky that we don't have cattle just walking around in the stream) "By Gawd I will dew whut I wawnt to with this here land" (my shot at typing the sound of a hilbilly ) and the new retirees do the exact same thing. You figure since the only reason they move here is because of the resources and that they would do everything they can to take care of them.....instead they start what is called the "Ozark County Property Rights Congress" and will only back something if THEY benefit from it... "I will do whaat I waant with my laand eh" (my shot at typing a Chicago accent) Land use will never change and it is the main problem with our rivers. I am NOT against farmers by any means at all but they are one of the biggest groups that are self-centered and wanting to know what YOU or the government can do for THEM as opposed to what they can possibly to do help anyone else out. Whereas in this area our cattle farmers buy and sell cattle between each other which does nothing for anyone until they ultimately sell off to another state that butchers....they are glorified used car dealers. I don't think the government should mandate everything about how people use their land but if someone is being careless I think they should be able to step in. wow, rant over -
It would probably float if you didn't trim it. In the screen-capture of the video where there is a speck of blood on my thumb....you can actually see a spot on my thumb that is almost healed up. I literally threaded my thumb with a B10s. I have no idea how I did it without sticking it all the way through my thumb because it had a 1/2 inch of skin threaded and right back through in no time.....such a rookie, I know.

I hated it too....and I still can't work with it very well but I knew I needed to MAKE myself mess with it. I have replaced the deer hair in the Dungeon with wool but it loses almost all of that really good Dungeon movement in the water so....back to deer hair.

Hey Guys, Next up, the Sex Dungeon. We caught more big fish on this pattern in the last year than I would have ever believed. My favorite big fish pattern....period. Hope you guys enjoy.... p.s. I had never poked my finger twice while tying any one fly at a time....until I shot this video. I kind of forgot to show the materials on the rear hook so here is the whole pattern: Rear Hook: Hook: Gamakatsu B10s #2 (VERY SHARP as you see in the video) Tail: Marabou Hackle: Schlappen Body: Marabou (SO much easier and quicker) Rubber Legs: Sili Legs Articulation Point: Beadalon Spacer: Glass Beads Front Hook: Hook: TMC 8089NP #2 (VERY SHARP as you see in the video) Hackle: Schlappen Body: Cactus Chenille Eyes: Pre-Painted Dumbell (because who wants to paint eyes ) Head: Deer Hair Head trimmed with a flexible razor blade.

Exactly. When I start playing the lottery....and win billions, I gaurantee there will be no development on the NFOW besides my HUGE PAD that overlooks the river. We run into discussions like this quite often and it exactly boils down to what Justin said about not wanting to see cabins when we float. Water quality will never be the same again, unless we get rid of every farm, house, lawn, city, person, etc in the world. Call me a redneck that doesn't look at the whole picture if you will but there comes a point where you can over-protect a resource and it isn't usable. "Sure, the river 'looks' pretty but we can't stick our big toe in it because there is a lichen that can grow on human toes that can spread to the one-cell organism, the Heliocytroptylus." I am all for water quality and a watchful eye of our resources but it would literally take a time machine to get the water quality of the 1950's back in our rivers (every river in the world) and then we wouldn't be able to set foot in the river once the quality was back.....and last time I checked this was Ozark ANGLERS forum, anglers.....anglers.....anglers. The name of this forum would be Ozark River Looker Atters Forum (ORLAF....that is kind of ironic ) -
30" brown on the North Fork of the White....period.

I can't say anything for the hellbender, this may or may not help or hurt the hellbender. But if developement was going to hurt the North Fork of the White's ability to produce wild rainbow trout.....it would have already reared it's ugly head. We have had some of the best hatches of young of the year rainbows that the river has ever seen in the last 5 years, the University does studies on the Hellbenders in the NFOW (because they can ALWAYS come here and find some), and we are clearly the highest population of wild rainbow trout in the state--if not the mid-west. I am totally guessing here, but I would say our water quality is "ok" at the very least. -

Exactly..... SO played out. Talk to Mtn Grove if you don't like filamentous algae, which does more good than bad FOR the river by the way. It may be a pain but it supports bug life a lot better than gravel, and helps our fry a TON. -
Peak. I have said it a thousand times....I feel like I could defend my family with my Peak, bullet-proof. They don't have as many bells and whistles as the Renzetti though. For what it's worth, I use the rotary feature about 10% of the time. It is nice to have at certain times but over-kill for me personally.

Tying Video: Galloup's Articulated Bottoms Up

That is actually what started this whole thing. I wanted to show people what really cool streamers looked like from the point-ov-view of....a fish. The tying was really an afterthought. -

It is beading wire called Beadalon. Mine is a little on the thick side but the small stuff freaks me out for some stupid reason. -

I completely missed the mark on that one Justin. You know what is even more cool than you calling me out on that? Your WIFE called me out on that before you did! -

Nice! I am always on the lookout for stuff like that. Do you have any links? -
Hey guys, Next up is the Bottoms Up. This fly is probably the most original and under-rated of all of Galloup's articulated streamers. The rear hook has 2 foam popper heads in it, while the front hook has lead eyes....literally making this fly stand on it's head, completely vertical. Just as good (if not better) for smallmouth as it is trout. Hope you enjoy.....
