Try using a piece of oak dowl rod. Cut a piece a little longer than the weed guard. Then drill a 1/8" hole in one end deep enough for it to touch the jig head when slid over the weed guard. Then taper the outside edge (where the hole is) so when you dip it the head will fully coated. Also if you use a toaster oven to heat the head it doesnt tend to mess weed guard up as bad.
