In my opinon and soft hackle experience it depends on how the fish are feeding in the water column. If they are taking emergers I would grease your leader and probably use a light wire hook. when fish are feeding deeper try not greaseing your leader or greasing it part way and use a heavier wire hook. Take a few minutes to observe before you jump in.

A friend of mine had an idea. The state should take this land and give it to the Boy Scouts at least then we wouldn't have to worry about this kind of problem. Plus it would give an opportunity for the scouts to have somewhere to camp and have mettings ect.
