I've been a big fan of this site for a couple of years, thanks to the those who maintain the site and to all for the great posts!! This is my first.
Fished the Big-M area with my 14 yr old son on Sat and Sun. According to electronics water temp was around 60 not sure if this is accurate, seems like it should have been warmer? Water was pretty dirty. Fished for about 5 hrs Sat afternoon. We did the grub thing on points for the first couple of hours but only managed one short. Moved in and started catching them. Ended up with around 15 total with 5 keepers, 4 SM and a spot. Tried the SB but had our best luck with plastics. Spent a good deal of time retreiving lures from trees and bushes but it was worth it. Got to watch my son land a 4 lb SM...very cool.
Fished for a couple of hours Sunday morning with one keeper and several shorts. Man was it windy. I think my kid is messed up for life . He wanted to fish longer but had to mow and clean gutters before the drive back to KC.
O yeah, I do feel like we dodged a bullet on Sat. Checked the weather on Friday before we went down and only saw a chance of rain possible thunder storms. Well on Sat evening we could see it was getting ready to get nasty so decided to call it a day, tuff call cause the fish were biting. By the time we left the ramp and got to the house (maybe 5 minutes) it really cut loose. I mean it was all you could do to walk from the truck to the house. Glad we were not on the lake in those conditions. Ok, too lazy to search the site but does anyone know if there's a weather hotline or some way to check conditions while on the water, thanks.
