  1. I didn't see the MDC on that list. Probably the best site for info for teaching. http://mdc.mo.gov/
  2. Aww, that is ok bud. I have done the same thing. Then you see one gets to 3 or 4 pages and.... I'll pass along your acclamation.
  3. Some you here know that I like using old school lures. To me it is just a heck of a lot of fun to use the same things that was used 50-60 even 70 years ago. Now I am not saying that I am out there tossing 70 year old lures for bass. That could be insane, but I do use some that were produced in the late 50's and early 60's But for todays photo, I am using a Hawaiian Wiggler, a name dates back to the 1930's. They are one of, if not first "spinnerbait" type lure produced. The one I am using was produced in the late 50's. Still in great shape only the skirt has been replaced. Anyway here is one of the bass I caught the other day with a great lure from a bygone era.
  4. Can you expand on this?????
  5. Just heartbreaking ain't it?? When I saw Dylan wrestling that fish, I knew if it did get away before we could get a picture, it would have ruined his whole day. More like the whole weekend! Have you any mounted fish???
  6. As a matter of fact I did, didn't I TC. CD has been fly fishing for about 3 or 4 years or so now. Not sure how it completes the education though. Just add another dynamic in my opinion.
  7. When I looked down the bank at Corndawg, he looked to be having quite a struggle.
  8. Ain't it the truth Al! I still haven't caught a bass that large. I contribute mostly to the fact that over 90% of my fishing in my life so far has been rivers and creeks. I did get one to the boat one time, dad says it would have went 8 easy, when I was very young on Spring River in Oklahoma but, didn't get it in the boat. So I can't really count it.
  9. Thanks guy's. That is one proud young man.
  10. Looks like we are in the 7lb. neighborhood. Give or take depending on which formula you use. 22.5" length, 16" girth.
  11. It seems as if this was the weekend for big bass. Due to other commitments this weekend, CD and I didn't get a chance to float but, we did wake very early Sunday and headed to an MDC CA in Barton county for a little early morning fishing. With the full moon saturday night, I wanted to fish all night but, wasn't able to pull it off. So CD and I got up early sunday and headed out with the moon so bright, it was casting our shadow. So after an hours drive, we got to our first spot just as daylight was creeping over the prairie horizon. We had disturbed the fun of a herd of deer as we got there and they told us about it. As we walked the 1/3 of mile hike to our first spot, they made it very apperant with their weezing. We also scattered one of the largest covey of quail I had seen since I was CD's age. There was at least 25-30 birds. How beautiful the sound of them calling each other to regroup as we began fishing. We started tossing our jitterbugs in eager anticipation. CD had a birds nest very quickly. After fixing that, I watch his casting as he had it happen again. I told him he was casting too hard and to let the rod do the work. He did and things started to smooth out. Fishing was not has hot has I thought it would be. I picked up a couple of dinks in the pound and half range. CD had yet to score and I was ready to move to another area. I told him to hit one last spot. And here is his result.
  12. I guess then, those formulas are just as accurate as you are. You both get within a few ounces.
  13. Thanks. That is what I was looking for.
  14. Very, very nice my friend! I have yet to fish the waters of Colorado. I know some turn their nose at Colorado but, not me! Next to my home state, it is my next fav!!!! Have you fished much around Pitkin?? I don't know why but I would like to hit that area. There is a motel there, that you can rent the whole thing out. Kitchen included. Very reasonable too. If you had a small group. If I remember correctly, it came to about $20 a night per person if you had 20 people. Which, yeah sounds like a lot of people. But once you get plans started, everyone wants in. And of course we all know how that can turn out too. Get the money up front!!!! NO refunds!!!!! ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!
  15. I can't remember all of the formula for the weight of a bass in the field. Length X Girth X Girth divided by ??? = ____lbs.
  16. My most humble apologies. Please continue. I mean it really. This is my first Friday Foto that went 2 pages!
  17. Don't fall into their trap Wayne, its a trap.
  18. The value of fish is relative to the fisherman. No moral is more moral than the other.
  19. Excellent point. Just excellent.
  20. They are all native my brother. And I must say, good swimmers!
  21. It won't be long now and the temp will start cooling with the begining of the autumn season. And that is a great time to get out and do some great fishing.
  22. That is a fish every 4.61 minutes! That is better than Al!
  23. Good to hear you guy's are OK. Out on the river is not the most comforting place to be when the weather goes crazy and you don't know what is going to happen! Pop up storms can be pretty scary sometimes.
  24. Another trick you can do with the hotdog is Stick uncooked spaghetti cross ways in it. Give a quick boil if you want. It will give the dog some life with the squirming legs. That is if you set lines on a river. Doesn't work as good in dead water.
  25. Nice job there buddy. Anytime is a great time on the water!
