  1. rps, I installed the stabilizer shown in the link below on my deep v walleye rig. Don't have a Terrova but do have a PD Autopilot. This thing ain't cheap but it will definitely keep your trolling motor from accidentally deploying. Also keeps all the electronics in the head from bouncing around in rough water. I mounted mine on the gunnel directly under the motor shaft when in the stowed position. I first tried a bungy cord but shaft still has too much bounce for me. walleye1 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true
  2. I've got a Lowe 1848 jon w/30 HP Evinrude jet and have a Garmin 240 w/transom mounted transducer and can read depth at WOT. Granted, on my rig, speed is only 22 MPH, at WOT and yours may be much faster but the bottom of my boat is pretty beat up and I still get a reading. Is it possible you've got the jet mounted a bit too low and that's where the turbulence is coming from? The leading edge of my pump is about 1/4" below the hull. I did install a transom mounting board before mounting the transducer so I could move it if necessary but guess I got lucky the first time. walleye1
  3. Found this link on another fishing forum website I frequent. Have no idea if it works as advertised but thought it might be of interest to folks here, especially ones who fish summer time bass tournaments. Anyway, just a fyi. walleye1 http://www.v-t2.com/home.html
  4. I fish crawdads quite a bit for smallmouth on the Big Piney and Gasconade Rivers. The best bait crawdads are the green ones about 2 1/2-3" long. I never pull the pinchers off. As one poster said, hook them thru the tail. Insert the hook about 1/2 up the tail from the bottom and bring the hook up thru the top with the point of the hook pointing toward the tails end. I use a #4 gold aberdeen hook with a small split shot about 2 feet up from the hook. There is a learning curve to keep the crawdad just off the bottom and not let it crawl under rocks. When you get bit don't let the fish run too long or you might end up with a short fish with the hook in it's throat. Almost impossible to get a hook out of a fish's throat without killing it. IMHO crawdads are the favorite food for smallmouth's and goggle eyes. Have fun.
  5. Viewed this site quite alot so decided it was time to register. I live in the thriving village of Buckhorn, Mo about 6 miles west of Fort Leonard Wood. We actually have an I-44 exit/entrance sign I grew up fishing the Gasconade and Big Piney Rivers for smallmouth and goggleye. Also used to do alot of trot line fishing on the lower Gasconade. Even though it's not as pretty a river, love to fish the Osage around Tuscumbia. My biggest walleye came from that river. Speaking of walleye, they're my favorite fish to go for. Fish Stockton and LOZ in the spring and fall. Good info on this site. walleye1
