I seached with a different phrase and found it Cabela's> Are there any others?

Does anyone know of a source for just the foam inserts for fly boxes? I did a search and checked my catalogs and didn't find anything.

I'm thinking of buying a pair of Smith's. I had some 10 years ago that I got on sale at BPS for $40. Some SOB stole them out of my truck one night. But I have bought 2-3 pair a year because the frames break. If Smith has a lifetime frame warranty at $15-$25 a pair the Smith's will be cheaper in the long run.

Michael, What happened to Fly Fish America? I was in on Thursday on my way to Stockton and you didn't have any. I thought it was a decent magazine and the the price was excellent.

How far is it to go there from Nixa? Is there anything else in the area or just a fishing destination?

My wife is due June 12th. We wanted to conceive on a cruise (you know, like the Disney commercial where the little girl says "mommy calls him a little sovenir".). How about Dustin Rhoades? Or my Aunt's last name is Green and her husband is a hunter so they teased about Hunter Green.

Thanks Dano that is exactly what I was looking for.

I've looked everywhere and I can't find nice reel seats like they have for fly rods. I found the REC metal ones that look nicer than the black composite ones. Does anyone know if someone makes them?
-
That's it, bluefish. It was a bluefish or a ladyfish. We looked them up when he got back and I don't remember which one he decided it looked like.
-
Swellcat, Is there another fish similar to the lady fish that has long teeth? My father-in-law told someone down there about what it was and they said it was one of 2 things. It jumped when caught and was jumping on the surface while it was feeding. He said they caught them as fast as they could cast back out for 6 hours and had raw armpits from the rod butt. They only got action for the 1 day due to weather on the other days.

Thanks Tim, If I do get a new rod I am thinking about building one. That is if we even go. We have a baby due in June so that would add another air fair so we might have to drive. I will have to do someting though whether it be a fly rod or a spinning rod.

It would be a graphite blank from Dorber or Hook and Hackle. It sounds like a fun project and some of those blnks are pretty inexpensive. Are there some that I should stay away from? I'm a begining fly fisherman so I only have one rod as it stands.
-
When you "finish" a rod do you apply it to the whole blank or just where you wrapped the guides?

My in-laws go on a trip to Florida every year and invited us for next year. My father-in-law fishes every weekend and then some. They saw some fish jumping out off the beach last year and couldn't stand it so the all went to Bass Pro down there and bought the biggest spoons they could find (for maximum casting distance) and a rod and reel. They think it was a ladyfish. Well I'm thinking about giving it a try with a fly rod. So my questions are, will I be able to cast very far with one, and what weight of rod do I need?

Has anyone used crayfish flies in the local rivers and streams?
-
I live real close to the dam. I drive over the bridge almost daily. People are there all the time. I even saw someone camp on the slab last year. The downstream side of the dam is owned by the subdivision. For $150000 you can buy a lot in there and have access. Or you can walk or have someone drop you off and if they don't see you cross the land then???? The guy I bought my lot from owns a field on the river and used to let people cross it to use the picnic area. They used the picnic table for firewood and put holes in his irrigation hose and he had to close it.

Does anyone know where I can buy some time to go flyfishing? I'd like to buy it at wholesale.
-
The finley is about 3 feet from touching the Riverdale bridge. I doubt if fishing is very good right now.
-
Does anyone know of a link to a video of casting online. I hate to buy one. It's not like I will need it once I learn.
-
I ordered a 8-6 5wt. Scott V2 with Micheal. He said it should be in on Friday. Now for the other stuff to top it off.

Is it feasable to fish a lake with fly gear? Would you use a boat or the bank or either?
-
I think I have my mind set on the Sage Launch. It is $175 and according to the BCO site they are made on Bainbridge island. I think it will be more of a confidence issue in my equipment. Other rods may work fine but will I always be second guessing my eqiupment.
-
What size rod should I get? Even though I want to fish for bass and the stuff in streams I may fish for trout someday too. I don't want to buy the cheap stuff I will hate but I'm also on a budget until we get our house sold and the new one finished. I have a buddy who ties flies so I'm set there and I can trade him some reloads for plinking too.

I'm wanting to start fly fishing but need direction on where to start. I live close to the Finley river South of Nixa and thought maybe I should give it a try. My wife has said I don't need another hobbie and thinks fly fishing is expensive. Well if you add up all the stuff in my tackle boxes for spinning and bait castingthen it doesn't so bad. Plus if you add the cost of a boat to that... Anyway I'm wondering about rods and such necesities. I talked with them in Back Country Outfitters and the suggested a Ross Fly Start reel. I'm wanting to fish for smallies. I'd like to support the local guys so will get a reel from them but I've saved up BPS gift cards and need to use them so I'll by my rod there. I have $190 in cards so that is my budget. I was thinking about a Sage Launch or a TFO and leaning towards the Sage since it is made in America. Anyone know if TFO is made in USA? Do you think these rods are to high for a beginner and I should start with a cheaper one. Thanks, Woodchuck
