  1. So true, so true... I am doing a lot better since I upgraded my rod and reel... When I was first getting into fly-fishing the overall cost of the equipment was a little overwhelming... I did not want to invest $1,000,000 bucks if I was not going to like it, so along came the Shakespeare $20.00 all-in-one-fly-kit... I managed to get hooked into the sport, so I guess I can't complain about it too much, but my Sage Rod now makes me feel like a true pro!!! That, and MAN a good fly line makes a difference! David
  2. Thanks Thom, I actually live in Little Rock now, but I will be going on to Amazon in just a second to check out that book! Tell everyone is St. Louis I said hello, and if you know anybody in the market for a house in Kirkwood let me know!!! The market crashed on me just about the time I transferred down here, so for now the house has renters in it. Thanks again for your assistance! David
  3. Thanks Terry and Jim, it's great to be here. I have tried Libby Shoal and the small shoal at the Ramsey Access, but have always graduated back to my "home spot" in Pangburn. I have never had much luck on the shoals... I keep getting the feeling that I am not fishing them correctly, as everyone else has great feedback on the fishing... Maybe it's just that they are always hit and miss, and I seem to time my visits on "miss" days... I am more then willing to learn from any "masters of the shoal" fishermen (or fisherwomen... don't want to come off as sexist)... So maybe enjoying a little first class BBQ with the Arkansas Fly Fishers would be a good start! Thanks again for your warm welcomes, and I will start getting involved as much as I can with what's going on in the forum. FYI, I plan on hitting the LR this Saturday if anyone is looking for a fishing partner... I plan on sticking with Pangburn for the time being, but the day is my oyster so you may see me anywhere... Just look for the tall guy with the St. Louis Cardinals hat on cussing at his leader and tippet tied in knots in the middle of the river! David
  4. Hey cmo, When did you move here from Jackson? I went to school at Milsaps College (longer ago then I like to remember..), and have a few KA brothers that I believe still live in the area. I am typically a weekend only fisherman also, so if there is ever a time you are heading out let me know! Talk to you later! David
  5. Hello Everyone!!! I just stumbled across this site, and am amazed with all of the fly fishing info I have googled, that I have not found you guys before now! I am a fairly recent transplant to Little Rock (since last January), born and raised in East Texas (Longview), but have lived the past few years in St. Louis, MO. A friend of mine took me on my first fly-fishing experience last summer, and I have been faithfully addicted ever since. His Father-In-Law owns a plot of land on the river in Pangburn, just down from the boat ramp, and on my very first outing I snagged at least 15 good-sized rainbows. I'm wondering if there is anybody out there that would be interested in sharing some knowledge about other areas of the Little Red. It's my main river of choice as my In-Laws live in Searcy, and you know what that spells... FREE BABY SITTING!!!! My wife gets the day off, I get to fish, and the In-Laws get to see the Grand Kids... Life is good... Anyway, if there are any other wade fishing folks out there, drop me a response. I usually only get out on the weekends, but try to hit the river early so I can spend most of the day in the water. Thanks for having this site!!! I look forward to talking with you all in the near future! David My first Brown... Not the biggest fish, but I am 6'6, so I have a tendency to make things look small... That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...
