  1. Please go to the fly tying section to get the recipe. I don't claim to have 'matched the hatch' on bluegill bugs, but I GUARANTEE this one works. And they are a very hardy fly. If removed carefully from the 'gill, they should last 25-30 fish. The hardest part is shooting the gobbler!! Go Cats
  2. Have been using this fly for bluegill for years. Thought I might as well share... Go Cats
  3. Tied with a #10 or #12 nymph hook I use a beadhead, sometimes painted, sometimes not as you can see. Using different colors of chenille for the body and thorax, and a lacquered wild turkey feather (the luminescent kind from the breast) and wrapped over the top of the thorax. Sili legs tied in last. This fly started out as a Montana Stonefly Nymph about 15 years ago and has morphed into what you see here. I have lost the tail from the MSF and replaced the hackle with the sili legs. I mix and match all kids of colors, with the turkey feather and beadhead remaining the only constants. This KILLS bluegill. When fully wet, they sink about two inches a second, slowly drifting down on the beds. Go Cats
  4. Any reports on where/when/bait??????? We will be staying during the holiday weekend, and since the lake will be disturbed with all the boats/skiers/jet skis, thought we would try for cats with rod and reel, deep. Go Cats
  5. Any reports on where/when/bait??????? We will be staying during the holiday weekend, and since the lake will be disturbed with all the boats/skiers/jet skis, thought we would try for cats in the river. Also, not much action on this board. Is that because there is not much action on the river? Go Cats
  6. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g4...n_Missouri.html Read the reviews...we will never go back. Go Cats
  7. In case other fishermen/women do not read postings from other areas of this site, I thought I would go ahead and post this link. This comes from the Maramec section of the trout park postings. This is great example of how Ozark Anglers and current technology can change what seems to be increasing bad behavior on the stream/rivers/parks/reservoirs. Well done, Bman...well done http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12263 Go Cats
  8. Ok, fine. I'll go ahead and ask what everybody is wanting to know... Are you guys hiring? As for myself, I could use some temp work around the first of August Go Cats
  9. I was fishing about 200 yards up from the dam/spillway. My guess would be (dead reckoning) it was across from the Hatchery (on the stream). Trico's everywhere for a couple of hours actually. I loved that stretch of the stream. Wish I was there now. Picture this...I'm covered in head-to-toe dollar signs with all my flyfishing crap, and here comes the ten year old with his zebco and crappie jigs. I thought it was great. Even helped him net a few, so fun was had by all. Next time, I'm getting a Dora The Explorer rod and leaving my 4wt at home... Go Cats
  10. White, white and more white. Anything 'white' would catch fish this past weekend, 6/20-22. Saw a kid catch 6 fish on ten casts using a white crappie jig (no, not a mini). I caught fish on white glo bugs, white thread jigs, tricos (white wings, white foam emerger, plus hatch was happening). You get the idea. Good times. Not too crowded, everyone very respectful on the river. Go Cats
  11. Will be camping at Pomme in September and am looking to canoe and fish a section of the river. Any tips or suggestions with regards to where to put in/take out, float companies (if there are any), and what species to try for? Thanks, Go Cats
  12. Friends and I will be there this week for four days. Should be able to fish most of that time. Any recent reports from this past weekend? This will be my second trip to Montauk (ever) and was told late last year that I missed some of the best water. This time I will start at the spring and head towards the dam, or vice versa. Go Cats
  13. Excellent, Just what I needed...
  14. Where on the internet would I find a stream guage, or some other indicator of the water level at RR? Go Cats
  15. We plan on launching first thing Sunday, I think about 7:30am is the first shuttle. Picking up some 3" tubes today (all I have are grubs) and should be ready to hit the water this weekend. Go cats
  16. Tubes - check. Thanks.
  17. Wife and I, along with her aunt and uncle, are taking our first float on the Buffalo on Memorial Day weekend (yeah, I know, but I didn't pick the date). Gonna float from Baker Ford back to Gilbert, or Tyler to Gilbert, but that one seems awful short. Wife and I typically try for the ten-twelve milers with no fishing, or shorter trying for smallmouth, goggleye, etc. We will be floating on Sunday to try and avoid most of the riffraff. Anyhoo, since reading this forum I have picked up some Rapala CD-3's and 5's, and am looking for any other last minute tips for our first Buffalo adventure. Thanks. Go Cats
  18. Where'd you fish last night? I won't get to visit RR for the first time in '08 for several weeks at least...getting the fever tho... Go Cats
  19. Can I get marshmallows with that chocolate milk? Go Cats
  20. I drive from Joplin to Pittsburg everyday, crossing numerous rivers and creeks. Nothing out of it's banks yet, but high and muddy water everywhere. Has to be the same at Twin and #10. Go Cats
  21. I think you might be onto something. And with an increased presence at the ramp, they will be exposed to the need for a dock, and the overall ridiculousness that is Twin Bridges during the white bass/spoonbill run. HEY!! Maybe they could use some of the new funds to build another ramp! Oh, cmon! A kid can dream, can't he? Go Cats
  22. Checking with the wife, but I think that's a no go Bear.
  23. Anybody catching 'em yet? Water may be awful high... Go Cats
  24. So...Instead of replacing the $30,000 boat dock/cleaning station that washed away, the gov is going with the $400,000 'mobile' station (i.e. not permanent) to make some coin. Nice. Go Cats
  25. Please post some photos for those of us unable to attend... Go Cats
