  1. This is the summer that I plan to hit this river hard from above the lake to down as far as you can wade. Can anybody recommend the best flies? I'm guessing Cloussers, but would love to have color suggestions. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks for the info. I've been staring at the map where the Frisco Trail goes over it and climbing down from there. If it works, I'll pass along the information.
  3. There was an area you could reach by walking down a trail near the Mitchell Century Farm and a trailer. It's been marked off as Private Property and the owner apparently does not want anybody on his land. After seeing the trash some left behind, understandable. Question - does anybody know of another route to access this area?
  4. Thanks for the help and I'll look up those spots.
  5. I've dedicated myself to more warm water fly fishing and I'd like to know from the group what areas can a person access to wade? I've been down to the two bridges near the confluence with the James, so any additional information is appreciated.
  6. I appreciate the help and it should be fun.
  7. Much appreciated. What do you use at Marble? I drive right by the spot and what the hell - I don't mind a little wet wading to get my fishing Jones in.
  8. That's great information - thanks and I hadn't even thought about War Eagle. Good wading there?
  9. I live in Springfield and normally fish the tailwaters for trout, but I'll be in Huntsville on Monday with some time to kill in the afternoon. I've driven by the Marble Access numerous times and I'm curious if it's a decent spot. I'd appreciate any suggestions folks have and my plan was to basically throw Woolies with a fly rod. Thanks to all.
  10. I have heard of a method of tying soft hackles that is great for bigger feathers with longer barbers. Supposedly, you tie them forward and then push them back using a ballpoint pen casing or something similar. I've Googled this until I'm blind. Does any body have any information that shows how this done?
  11. Thanks for the advice. Powerbait it is (just kidding!).
  12. Hey Brian - If a guy had a chance to walk-in this week (Wednesday), where would you suggest he go? I have some time in the early afternoon and I was thinking of walking up to the islands above Patrick.
  13. I have no idea how accurate this is, but I was visiting with a fellow last night and his comments were that they were not going to rapidly drop Table Rock because they'd lose the Bass spawn. Again, I'm sure there's folks on here a lot more in the know than I am and maybe they can check with their local bass buddies to see if there's any truth to that.
  14. I actually hit the island above Patrick Bridge yesterday. I was there from about Noon until 3:00 and they were flashing all through the pools. I threw Wooley's (olive and brown), Prince Nymphs and eggs. Not a darn thing. While walking out, I noticed a bug on my boots. I checked it at home and the best I can tell (I'm pretty new at this) is that it was a stonefly nymph. I'm ready to learn to tie the things and head back! John
  15. That's good to know. Man, I love that river (live in Springfield) but I never have any luck on it.
