  1. I always wondered what it would be like to have my own island, in the wee hours of April 11th I got a pretty good idea. The great news is that our island was not deserted. There were many people, some I know, and more that I didn't, that were there to do nothing more than help any way they could.

Phil, Jerry, Curtis, Mike Adams, Justin Gage (and your helpers) Bob Klien..... you all answered my call for help, and I thank you.

The folks at the City of Branson Public Works, the Fire Department guys that called me on the dock that night to check on me, The guys at Tracker Marine that stood by with boats just in case they were needed, Table Rock Asphalt, Tom Boyce, Fastenal, L&H Dock Service (the most awesome dock guys in the world) I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did. Charlie Ingram, Carol @ Roark Resort, Justin Gage, thanks for letting me habor some boats in your ports for safety. I'm sure there are many people that helped that I will never know what they did, and to them I say thanks a million... Stop in sometime and let me buy you a cup of coffee.

I had only lived in Branson 1 year and 9 days when this happened. I moved here after coming on vacation, and thinking it would ba a nice community to live in... I didn't have a clue.... The response to our situation was tremendous, and I thank each of you that have called, come by, sent cards, sent food.

Thanks for all the prayers that were said on our behalf, you know who you are.

We are up and running, still have a few systems to get up and going, should have most by Tuesday I would say. I'm sure we'll have more water issues before June (I like Phil's note that says the Corps is going to lower TR 8' by Memorial Day) but we'll work through them one day at a time.

Thanks again for the support, and come by and say hi when you can.

  2. Lots of good feedback, and I think the main thing everyone would love to see is respect for one another while on the lake. As to the question about bouy placements for the other marinas, As if December, they are not accepting any buoy permit applications for a year while they study the program. So we had to get this in by then or would have had to wait over a year..and by then the rules could be different....

Thanks for all the replies, let's be safe and have fun fishing.

  3. WATER PATROL AUTHORIZES IDLE SPEED AREA ON LAKE TANEYCOMO

The Missouri State Water Patrol recently authorized placement of “Idle Speed, No Wake” buoys across the entire channel on Lake Taneycomo at Scotty’s Trout Dock and Marina. This marina is located adjacent to the Branson public boat ramp and railroad trestle bridge, and upstream from the Branson Landing project.

A "funnel" was created in the main channel of Lake Taneycomo when Scotty's Dock and Marina was relocated and moved to it’s present location. The channel at that location was subsequently reduced to only 235' wide (distance to dock on opposite side of channel). This relocation was necessary due to the Branson Landing development, but the reduced width of the channel has now created a hazardous condition. This narrow channel has made it dangerous for boats approaching from opposite directions as they enter that funnel. Boat operators will now be required to reduce to idle speed when entering the area around Scotty’s Trout Dock and Marina. A line of controlled area buoys were authorized to be placed across the channel on either side of the marina to mark this idle speed area.

This area will be monitored by officers of the Missouri State Water Patrol. Enforcement action will be taken, as necessary, in order to ensure compliance in this idle speed area
  4. Had some good luck in the last week on the spoons down here. It seems Gold and Copper are favored over Silver, better late in the afternoon or early in the morning. Powerbait is best used off a bottom wait with about a 24" leader. You can rig these yourself, or get drift rigs at any of the trout docks on the lake already tied. Might want to try night crawlers also this time of year.

Stop by if we can help you....

  5. Thanks guys... thought we were going to blow away early this a.m. A couple of docks near us flipped upside down. Seems as if all we lost was the sign on top of the dock....

Won't be doing the beer or tobacco.

The name will stay the same, Scotty's has been around 14 years now, and I think it should stay. Did think of wearing kilts and getting some bagpipes though..what do you think..??

  6. Thanks for the welcome. For those of you who know (which is everyone that has ever been on this lake I think) Mike Lipp stayed with us, he's just taking a much deserved vacation this winter. Been putting in a lot of hours around here, and I promised I would not bug him too much this winter.

Thanks again for the welcomes, and let me know if I can help you in any way.

  7. Hello Guys,

Phil encouraged me to take the time to introduce myself on the forum. My name is Lamar Patton, I am the new owner of Scotty's Trout Dock in Downtown Branson. I've really enjoyed the past few months getting to know some of the folks here, both local and visitors.

I got turned on to trout fishing some 9 years ago, down in Arkansas with my son, and have been hooked on it ever since. Never in my wildest would I have imagined the opportunity that presented itself to me to purchase a Trout Dock and Marina.

All that being said, I encourage anyone to stop in, and introduce yourself. My wife and my two kids and I live in Hollister, right off the lake and have enjoyed all the great people here.

We're changing the dock a little every week, trying to have it completely redone by March 1.

We will have an updated website online hopefully in January the address is www.scottystroutdock.com

Thanks to everyone including the Lilley's that have welcomed us to the Branson area, and hope to meet as many of you as I can real soon.

  8. Hey guys, everyone I talked to had a great time. Thanks to the guys at Lilley's for putting this on... a lot of work goes into these tournaments.

Sounds like the Gentleman critizing the tournament should sign up and try it if he thinks he can do better...... maybe his cousin won't fish with him.

Thanks again for putting this on,

    Lamar Patton
