Does anyone have these or know the good and bad about them. I am sorta looking for a review on them.
-
Mike it was nice to meet you on Sat. As for fishing with 4 units I would just hang out by Outlet 1 and 2.
-
Thanks guys, the net is a fisknat, they are kinda expensive. I bought this one on Ebay for $30 but they retail for around $100, they do make a light weight bag for them now.

I arrived at 10pm to 1 unit running, after 30 mins it went to 2 to 3 units. I had the lake to myself, I ended up just fishing at outlet 2 for a couple hours. Ended up with 24 in 2.5 hours, with a 23" brown on the 3rd fish of the night. Also fished Sat. morning for a while then helped Leonard for a while.

Don it was great to meet you too. I would have to agree that it was a combination of all 3!! I will have to agree with Leonard, the fish at KOA were like catching wild trout on the North Fork, they were fighting like no other. I will be down Friday Night as well.

Tippet7, yes that is a WJ pack. I like it a lot, does tend to get in the way when stripping but you get used to it. Lots of storage and doesn't hurt your shoulders or neck at the end of the day.

I arrived at 5pm to 1 generator running, so I started below outlet 2 with a olive scud and caught around 20 fish from 5 to 9. Then I met up with Leonard and we had some Special Coffee to start. We started at Outlet 2 and he showed me how to catch the big browns, granted most have move back down stream there was still one left for me to catch. We both estimated him at 25" give or take. We then went up to Outlet 1 and fished with scuds and eggs. We each caught 10 to 15 fish. At 2am we had some more coffee and headed to KOA to do some strippen for a couple hours. By the end of the night we both had another 15 or so fish. All in all it was a pretty good night and Leonard has a wealth of information on night fishing Taney. Rodney

I have a Hodgemans wading jacket. It converts from long to short and it completly water proof. It cost around $100. I thought I would add another one for you to look up.
-
I would have to agree about the zebra midges also, I hope your not putting up you fly fishing stuff yet. Some of the best fishing is still to be had especially in the winter when nobody is on the lakes and rivers. Plus it is really beautiful fishing with a snow on.

And I thought PETA stood for People Eating Tasty Animals!

What about for neoprene waders. How do you find small holes?
-
Brian, I ended up fishing Friday night and only caught 2 bows from 7 to midnight. Then I fished Saturday and caught 7 in an hour with the biggest being 18in and a 15in. The rest were small. I will try to post a picture of the 18in tommorrow. I am still amazed at how they like that bead head scud. I did try a brown stone fly but as soon as I put that scud on I caught one and then the next cast caught the 18in. I don't know but maybe the scud is my new secret weapon in the riffles. Rodney

Brian, If you were to fish the NF at night would you fish the wild trout area or the red ribbon area right now? I know there is some big fish up in the wild area but there is some monster browns in the red ribbon area. Also what would you fish with and where. Would you stick to the riffles or the big holes and strip. Thanks, Rodney

whats the line weight rating of the reel?

Is anyone going out tonight?
-
Duckydoty, Do you know what time they have been generating of an evening and at night lately?
-
Yes there is wading up and down. You are right there is some browns in the area. There is even a campground at Patrick if your going to be staying.

Well fished saturday from 9am to 4pm. We floated from Kelly's Ford to Blair. Out of 4 fishermen we ended up catching 10 trout with another 5 hook ups, I was the only one fly fishing and I caught 5. All of mine were in the 12-14 inch range and were caught on a olive woolly bugger and a black and brown stone fly. Did hook in to a nice rainbow right below Kelly's but after a 5 min fight I lost him. Sunday I went by myself to Kelly's from 11am to 2:30pm and caught 4 rainbows, 3 were in the 12 inch range and the last one was a 17inch bow that would go 1.5 to 2 pounds. I love fighing the wild rainbows on the North Fork, that fish probably took 15min to land and I had to walk down the river a good 75 yards to get into some slower water to get him in. I wish I would have had a camera. But I don't carry one anymore down there since I ruined my wifes brand new digital when I fell on some bedrock, that river is so slick. All the fish on Sunday was caught on a grey scud dropped down behind a yellow and orange egg. I was using the egg for an attractor and so I could see were the fish were hitting at. All in all a great weekend on the North Fork.

I just posted on how i did this weekend on the topic before this one. In the summer I would agree with gavin about a 5 to 6 fish day is good, in the fall those numbers will go up to about 10 t0 15 on some days.

Has anyone ever put togather a document of pictures of river life and a picture of the flies that match it. I think this would be a good thing for new fly fishermen that has no idea where to start and what you guys are talking about half the time. Just a thought.

Brian K., I was actually fishing around Sunburst Ranch, I know the owners and most of the cabin owners up and down the river, so I have a lot of good access points. We actually floated on Saturday with 3 other couples and I didn't take the fly rod since my wife was with me and a good thing I didn't since we ate it at the Falls. So the only fishing I did was at Sunburst of a morning and evening. I will be down again this weekend so I will try to fish up around ROLF and McKee Bridge. Rodney

Brian, Thanks for the help, I ended up fishing Friday night, Saturday morning and evening and Sunday Morning. I ended up catching 15 in all, but I did hook into a 15 inch rainbow on a #16 Gray Scud of all things. I mostly used a Hares Ear and Copper Johns but for every trout I caught, I ended up catching 5 chubs. I just couldn't keep them off my flies. Will also be down next weekend also, so how was your fishing this weekend and what were you getting hits on. Rodney

That stretch of water is smallmouth and goggle eye, the trout water dosn't start until 4 miles below hammonds at rainbow spring.

Brian I will be down on the North Fork from the 17 through the 19 and was wondering what flies to fish with and the setups your using. I grew up in West Plains and played ball with Rory Bridges and he told me to contact you about what the fish were doing this time of year. I know you guys say fish deep but how deep, 1 1/2 the depth of the water? I know there is some pretty deep holes on the North Fork. What about Riffles, how deep with them? Any info would be very appreciated! Thanks, Rodney
