  1. If you guys want to accept that all the fish caught were Browns and were 20-21 inches each thats fine. (no 12 inch rainbows?) I said nothing about my skills/experience compared to others. I'm sure most of you are much better Taney trout fisherman than me. I realize that guides need to paint a good story, but this one stretches it too far for me.
  2. Leonard I find your account of your fishing success unbelievable. I was fishing in the same area from Sun through Tues noon. I didn't see anyone bringing in 20 inch browns let alone large numbers of them.
  3. What lures are illegal in the trophy area above Fall Creek? I know you can't use live bait or dough powerbait but are their other presentations that are illegal such as soft plastics. spoons, crankbaits, etc? As an example, can I drift a Gulp worm in the current? In the past, I've only use jigs in the trophy area but am wondering what is actually legel vs illegal.
  4. Should I assume the fishing is the best the first couple of hours and the last two hours daylight with the mid day being tough? I haven't fished Taney when the weather is hot before. My only previous experience was to boat up to maybe "round rock" and drif down casting jigs towards the deeper bank. This seemed to work fairly well. Any other recommendations?
  5. I plan to fish Taneycomo from Aug 26-28. I will be staying at Lilley's and fishing out of a boat. What locations and techniques do you guys have for a spin fisherman to catch large numbers of catch & release rainbows over 12 inches? I fished the trophy area two years ago in late September (throwing small jigs and swimming them without a float) but haven't fished in August before.
  6. Can someone give me an overview of what is happening with the lake draw down? I'm planning a trip the last week of August. Will the draw down impact me fishing in a boat upstream from Fall Creek?
  7. 3 years ago I fished the area upstream from Fall Creek (to Lookout hole area?)when they weren't generating much water and fished along the steep bluff bank on the West side. What I don't really know is how to ID specific spots and areas to concentrate on. We pretty much just plugged the bank as we drifted along with small jigs and did OK.
  8. In looking at the maps Lilley put on the internet, I think the area he describes as from Lookout to the Sycamore Tree" looks the most promising. http://lilleyslanding.com/lt_maps/lo-sy.php Questions: 1) Can you boat and fish this area not matter how much water they are letting out with a 16ft aluminum boat? 2) Can you go upstream from Lookout hole if they aren't letting out much water? 3) Are the things identified on the map easy to spot such as Tennis Court, Trinity Rock, Round Rock? 4) How do you id Lookout Hole when boating?
  9. Sorry about calling some of you guys bank fisherman. I met that most of you wade vs fish from a boat. I spend most of my time on lakes so you are either a boat fisherman or bank fisherman.
  10. Just wanted to drop by and introduce myself as I'm new to this forum. I'm planning a trip at the in the month to Lilley's and will be fishing out of a boat in the trophy area most of the time although it might catch a few to eat below Fall Creek. I notice most of the posters on here are fly fisherman fishing from the bank.
