Hey Al, have you ever fished around the Empire, or evergreen ranch south of lebanon. I fished it one time and we caught a lot of fish but the way Plaster runs people off we didnt catch what we were expecting to catch. We really didnt catch many big smallmouth either but we did catch quite a few goggleeye. It is a really pretty stretch of river with lost of historical stuff along it. There are a few old houses right along the river, especially one i remember on stilts right above the bank. There was also an old mill with a dam right above our takeout. You just have to watch because i have heard Plaster will run you off.

The Gasconade river USED to be my favorite river. I repeat Used to be. I am only in my twenties and i can remember way better times on this river, and this doesnt have to do with me only fishing it a little and only going on a bad day. I live pretty close to this river and have fished it close to once a week during the summers. I will fish it maybe once or twice a year anymore and that is always early, before black bass season opens. I fish mainly the upper parts as far down as competition, mainly closer to hartville. The last couple of summers if you go once the water has warmed much it is stagnant, and weed choked everywhere. I have heard many people say they dont even want to eat fish out of there anymore. I still catch some fish in there and yes there are some fish in the river, but way fewer smallmouth, and a lot less quality fish as well. I will still fish it, and like it, but its just not the same.
