I try to plan ahead about a week in advance based on the weather forecast. I'm planning on going down on 11/30. Got out last Saturday .... had Zone 1 pretty much to myself ... fishing was great.

Years ago, I was fishing with some college buddies at Tuttle Creek Res. outside of Manhattan, KS. It was super hot and we weren't catching very much. One of my buddies said that a cold beer would taste great ... we all agreed but didn't have anything to drink in the boat. About 15 minutes later I noticed an orange thing that looked like a buoy floating in the water. It was pretty far off in the distance. We motored over to check it out and it was one of those orange Gott water coolers. I reached over to pick it up and it was heavy. We got it on the boat and took the lid off and it was filled with Falstaff beer (that shows my age) on ice! To this day, I think the Good Lord heard our request and delivered. I

Spent the morning of 11/24 at Bennett. Fished for 4 hours. It was frigid. Had the island area in Zone 1 almost to myself. Fished a #14 peach egg pattern on 5X tippet about 3.5' under an strike indicator. Had consistent action all morning. Never changed to another pattern. Caught mostly 10-12" fish with a couple of kicker fish in the 15-16" range. Too many fish to count. The C&R season provides a great opportunity to fish the parks without all the crowds.

Been viewing this forum for almost a year, decided it was time to register. My name is Mike and I'm a flyfisherman from the Kansas City area. This year I made a committment to resurrect my fly fishing passion. I primarily fish the trout holding rivers/streams of Missouri. Spent over 30 days on the water this year. It's great to be on board and I hope I can share some of my experiences.
