  8. that the only thing to toss!
  9. i floated from hwy 14 on down to rush this past weekend the water was as low as it could be, i didn't have to get out and drag! but you sure needed to pick the correct slot to run or you could have . fishing was way off from other waters. did catch about 12. nothing to brag about. but how about that full moon? the fall colors aren't happening yet at that end of the river, driving home from the trip i took the snoball cuthru back over to jasper and at the top of the mountains the trees had turned already, but for only a small section at the very top. and i got to see a couple elk in boxleyvalley but no bulls
  10. we didn't do too bad either... the score was 38 to 43 and 9 over 15 inches (i might have tied him, but i got hung-up on a log pile and thats all she wrote!!!)
  11. thanks for the invite!... but we are going below the dam to 43 around 9:30
  12. that section is a long one! 18 miles and is a two day trip, the water is too low to do at this time. and the one above that is a 8 or 10 miler also too low .you will be dragging you boat more that you will float the river gauge needs to be above 3.5 to make a run at it!.... hope it helps

    Sunday Float

.... then you should be ready for wensday's trip back over there! cowskin @9 .....is the word i heard!
  16. ollie.... it was sunday
  17. floated the lower 10 miles in 2hours..... stoped 4 times, one stop was for lunch
  18. high and foamy-brown water? is not good for fishing!
  19. thanks for that report!! ....
  20. i think that time of year the fish are up in feeder creeks, and the riverarms with the white bass ...pushing bait fish . so a chrome / blue or black and chrome zara spook, even a clear one! or a 3/4 oz white haired jig with the red blood line. and a 4 to 6 inch trailer tail... we would go out about 3 hours before daylite, and by the time the sun came up it was time to go! ,.. 15 to 30 lbs fish....... so be ready!!! (you find the baitfish ....you've found stripers) it will take you some time on the water reading your depth finder in search of the( blacked-out screen of shad) or i could just look off the deck and let you know!! that the fish are jumpin' and the guideboats are stacked-up 6 deep doing figure 8's ................ but really.>>stripers are a spooky fish i think to much traffic really kills your chances and most of the time you'll only catch 1 or two , maybe three at best off one spot, now thats not to say you can't catch more fish , but i haven't, but at the same time you will get white's/ hybrds/ and slab crappie all right there and planning a trip that way you will have fun!! hope this help?.
  21. you bet!.... if that will help you out!

    elk river

floated with 'kozycamp" outfitters, to test ride an new boat.... man it was bow to stern.. aluiminum wave of people ..i did a ten mile run to play in a set of waves that was about 8 miles from the put-in(yeah! what was i thinking?) this is the good part!!! at this wave set ,the river goes to the right,.. tight to the bank, under a low hanging limb!!! .... you with me ? out in the middle of the river there's a set of big ole' ledge rocks, that if you hit them ,one of two things happen.. one!! she floats over, then he high-centers and as she smiles.... the water rolles them over really slow.... the person in the bow NEVER SEE IT COMMING! over they go!...or they hit so hard they slide off the seats and on to the floor ...and then roll over !!! i sat in that same spot for at least 4 hours laughing so hard!!at one time they piled up twenty sum canoes, they just kept slam in to each other like bumper boats... in one pileup a girl snaped her arm ,and i had to take over!!.. as being the only sober one.. or the only one with a wistle, and a lifevest anyway, they all just stood there looking at me! and let me bark-off orders!... hey you!.. stop all them canoes!!.. you four guys help them turn over those canoes ... hey you kids grab them shoes, hats, trash, and coolers! by this time all the crying is over, and it seemed like all was ok ..then i go into boyscout mode with a baggie and some ice and small stick and a teeshirt, i wrap her arm up. at some time thru all this i looked up and man!! everyone was watching me work my magic!!.... this was a wildeness safty class in progress! i told them that they could mail there entry fees to me! in the end i got hugged twice,by the girl and her mom! and all the people clapped for me!
  23. they had around 300 people showup to paddle around on sat, and about the same for sunday, they also had a moonlite paddle both nights .and had a full fleet of some 40 boats to try out... from white waterboats to sea kayaks and a few nice old wood worker guys showed up... and showed off... some really nice work! on some homemade canoes and kayaks ..... just about every boat made was stacked up in the campground... it was bumper to bumper in there! sorry you missed it ...buy mark it down for next time!!
  24. ollie>>>> have you talked to wayne ?? i haven't seen him post - up in awhile?..... you need a new one don't you?
