  1. You guys post when you're going down and maybe some of us can get together for lunch or something. I mean anytime after opening day. Jerry
  2. Flyfishmaster, Sounds like a great time you all have. I went one time when I was 13 years old. Probably not go this year either but I'll go 2 or 3 weeks later when it's not quite as packed. JJ, Hope the weather's good for ya. If it looks like a beautiful day and I just can't stand it, I'll drive down and look for you.
  3. I switched to breathables last year and love them. Soooooo much lighter and easier to walk around in.. Plenty warm if you later. I bought the Simms L2's and so far have been very pleased.
  4. This is the new one I bought also for 80 bucks on sale. Seems to work fine for me. I use Polortec fleece underneath for warmth. The only thing that would be nice is an interior pocket for car keys, etc. I use my Simms wader pocket for that now. I just could not bring myself to pay 300.00 for a jacket.
  5. PC, You sure had good weather if it was anything like it was here in KC. I'm itching to go back but time is rumming out. Feb 11th is the last for Cand R I guess. I've tied plenty of peach eggs to try and flor. yellow with some red on it. Sounds like you did well today! Gotta meet you down there sometime and follow you around! You did better than I did. I'll give you a couple of Chub cracklebacks! Jerry
  6. Good Luck, PC The Chubs are hittin' cracklebacks!!!
  7. I should have gone this sunday...58 degrees!!!!
  8. These will soon be for sale at the park store. Glad you had a good trip Tinner. I'm ready to go again but probably won't for awhile. Jerry
  9. No Luck, you mean where the water is coming over the dam below it? We should have tried other spots, I suppose, but just didn't. It was good to get out anyway and it was nice to have someone to chat with..glad Tinner made it. Really the worst part was the eyelets freezing up. Impossible to shoot any line unless you dunked the first 4 eyelets in almost every cast. And then when your stripping line in it was ice covered a little. The best part is NO crowds. I guess CandR is over Feb 11th according to Weavers site? Probably won't make it down until late March or early April myself now unless i get a wild hair. We all need to meet down there sometime. During the week would be best for less of a crowd. PC, Good luck next sat.! I'm gonna be home playing with the grandbaby. Jerry
  10. Went to Bennett this morning at 7 AM. Temp on yahoo said Lebanon was 1 degree. Repeat...1 degree! I thinking "I'm a moron" as I pull out of the drive. 3 hours later I was meeting up with Tinner up in zone 1 just down from the spring. I decided to just put on my smowmobile suit and fish from the bank for awhile since we were pretty much the only fools, I mean true fisherman, out there. After 20 minutes I lost all the feeling in my left hand despite the fact I had gloves on...the ones that let your fingertips freeze. I caught a fish on a chartuse egg and lost another one shortly after. About 3o or 40 minutes later the sun was higher and my hands started feeling good and I was glad I made the trip!. The water is up a little and very dingy. I guess we saw maybe 15 guys all day. Tinner caught 3 or 4 on something that looked like a olive woolly bugger before noon and several close to the spring on top. We fished between the spring to the rock dam all day and picked up a few fish. Tinner did better than I did. I only landed 5 fish in 5 hours but I tried. I normally switch flys more often to try to find something better but it was not great weather to be tieing size 20 flys on with barely "working" hands. I caught 2 on chartruse egg, 2 on #18 red brassie and 1 on a yellow soft hackle and missed several. Tinner did better and is my hero because he's staying the night and going for another day of punishment. What a man! About 2 o'clock I was getting a little depressed because I could not seem to coax a strike when I noticed a guy down stream SWIMMING for shore!. He got out and quickly made it to his truck. I thought his day officially sucks more than mine! Also, I almost forgot, about 1:30 2 guys don scuba gear and go diving in the spring next to where Tinner and I are fishing. Polor bear club??? It was nuts but somehow made me feel warmer watching those guys flailing around in their wet (or Dry) suits. They made a few comments about being cold and I thought, DUH, ya think? It was pretty wierd. At 3:00 the sun started down and the ice started really building up on the eyelets. I had to dip the first 3 in the water all day to thaw them out so I could cast but it really got bad when the sun started down. I walked back to the car and had to knock the ice out of the eyelets so I could wind my line in and put my rod up. Tinner had a net hanging from his back and when he took it off it stayed out straight..frozen solid! Luckily the sun was out all day and the wind was only up a little occsionally so it was not that bad. No way it got to 38 but we lived thru it. Are your finger tips suppose to turn black after a day of fishing??? It was good to get out of town for a day and I'm now looking forward to August. Jerry
  11. Car is loaded. I'll be there at 10 AM. Hell or high water! I need the AWAY time. Jerry
  12. I'm a little up in the air but still planning on Sunday.
  13. Now 38 degrees and morning flurries on Sunday on yahoo weather. Can't wait to see how it changes tomorrow!
  14. I'd rather believe this one but who knows???? http://www.weather.com/outlook/events/wedd...505?from=search
  15. Looks like 40 degrees on Sunday. I'm sure going to try and go. Really want to get the heck out of town. Too much stress at home right now!!! tinner, what car are you driving? No Luck, I'll loan you my Polertec Jacket!
  16. Might go sunday. Some chance of it anyway. Look for a Dark red 99 honda Civic-4 door. JO kansas plates. Jerry...RCGUY
  17. Pc, Looks like i'm still taking the day off to find someplace that will put a perminant cast on my son's ankle....he has no insurance. Good luck to us. I'll try to get down some sat or sun. My assistent at work is going in friday for foot surgery so I can't get any week days off for awhile. Sucks to have to work for a living. Sun is suppose to be 40 down in Lebanon so I'll just have to see. I have all my new cold gear ready to go. I don't want to be too miserable but I shouldn't with the new Polortec stuff I bought plus a new Cabela's dry plus wading jacket. I'll just keep tying flies and get down ther sooner or later.
  18. Thanks fior the report! Due to some unseen family problems looks I'll be staying home tomorrow and helping my 27 yr old son find a doctor to cast his now broken ankle. He's always got something! Sounds cruel but he's a huge problem child... oh well maybe I'll make it next sat. Wonder if it will be running normal in a week or 2?
  19. PC, I'll check sat night or Sun for your report. You know, we really should be car pooling down there. Maybe sometime I can pick you up on the way and we go spend a day on the stream. good luck sat. I've never fished the river...would like to but have no idea where to go. I was thinking zone 3 myself.
  20. tinner, Might take a stock of egg patterns. Easter egg pattern I bought at the store worked well last time. I tried every midge pattern I had and finally resorted to the egg and caught a few. then at 3:00 caught several on top with a size 20 Light Cahill up by the gauge house near the spring. I have been tying like crazy and I have lots more ammo this time! brassies..PT nymphs..Scuds..hares ear nymph... cream midge..figure I'll sling out the whole box and let them pick one..LOL
  21. Don't tear 'em up to bad before I get there on Monday! LOL
  22. Good Post!!! Great memory, I'm sure.
  23. Just FYI. I'm planning on going down Monday, Jan 14th for a day on the stream. weather looks good so far. As long as nothing drastic happens over the weekend, I'm going. 99 dark red Honda Civic. Jerry Brown aka RCGUY
  24. FFM, thanks for the info! Now I know. Many years ago my dad and I fished plastic worms all over the stream, when it was legal. I'll try zone 3 a little this summer. The reason I have not really thought about it much is because I was told years ago that the meat fisherman clean out zone 3 pretty fast of fish. Zone 1 has many more catch and release guys. Of course during the C and R season it should be as good as anywhere on the stream. BTW, If all goes well this weekend I'll be heading to Bennett Monday the 14th for a day fly flinging. Suppose to be partly cloudy and 41 degrees.
