  1. I got the Simms L2's and took them fishing. I love 'em. Sooo lightweight and comfortable. No leaking and with Polertec pants underneath they were warm.
  2. LOL.I'm about to hit the buy button unless someone says these are junk!
  3. this looks like one heck of a deal. $99 for a 199.00 Redington RS3 rod. I'm looking at a 4 wt 9 footer 4 piece as a nice backup rod. Is this a good rod?
  4. Well it sounds like we all agree we want to go fishing! I have no clue when I can really go. I was kinda thinking the over xmas 4 days off I would head down on Sat the 22nd or Sun the 23rd just to get a day out of the house. Probably just spend sat OR sun. and head home. Just rambling here but might be possible. If that doesn't work, there's always January!
  5. I'm thinking of heading down sometime this winter for a day on the stream and just wondered if others were planning the same. It would be fun to meet down there and have lunch, shoot the bull and fish. It just gets a little boring down there by yourself. Just wondering....
  6. Thanks Bob.I picked up the parts tonight so I'm ready to start. RCGUY
  7. Flyfishmaster, this brings up several questions I have just got to ask. By egg pattern what color and size would you suggest? I caught several on an easter egg glow ball last sunday and was very suprised. I guess because I had been drifting size 20 midges of different colors and got no takers so I switched to the glow ball as a last ditch effort to try something different... for me, anyway. They liked the glow ball. These are the ones you buy at the park store.. the weighted ones. Must look like a brightly colored cantalopue to the trout!! Anyway, what egg pattern would suggest? I have been reading about RS2's but have not tied any as yet. Do you fish them in the film? as an emerger? I caught several fish in the late afternooon on a small cream midge on top but I think the fish were really feeding on emergers. They were puddling on the surface and not really splashing like they were taking dry flys. Would a small cream/tan RS2, fished in the film, be a good answer in this situation? Sorry for all the questions but I'm trying to get better at this an it's a little frustrating.
  8. I fished sun the 18th. It was sunny and warm. I tried lots of good stuff but picked up a few on a glow ball, of all things. At 2:30 to 4 I had fun picking up 6 and missing several at the Gauge house on dry flies.. size 20 cream midge..wish I had some 22's with me. Olive marabou leech pattern? Like an Olive wooley booger?
  9. Gotcha! I finally got someone on the phone today. They are open when the stream is open they say. I was sure looking at going sunday after thanksgiving but the weather looks like it is gonna be rainy and colder after next monday. Monday is high 67! I might just go Sunday or Monday next week the 18th or 19th. gotta try our my new Simms L2's.
  10. Thanks for all the info, guys!! I think I would be happy with the Cabellas but for 50 bucks more I'm going to try the Simm's I guess. I only fish about 25 or 30 days a year so they should last me a long time I would think.
  11. Is the Park Store open to get licenses??
  12. 250.00 for the Simms and 169.00 for the Cabelas Dry Plus I looked at. Are the Simms worth it. Are the L2's OK?... I know they are the cheaper Simms.
  13. I'm glad you all had a great time. Wish I could have made it down. I did get to play with the 13 month old Grandaughter this week end and had fun with her... I mean chasing her. I have been tying some soft hackles, including JJ's green butt and some sweeet looking scuds of assorted colors. I'm ready to go!!!! I think I'll head down on a sunday or monday morn and spend the day. again ... glad you all had great weather and fishing!
  14. Wow, that sounds like fun. Unfortunately I have lots of family stuff going on. You all have a good time. I bought some nice gloves last night at Cabelas so I'm ready to get down there sometime this winter.
  15. Thanks for the great info! I assume Pheasant tail is like a pheasant tail nymph but using partridge hackle? I just found the recipe!!
  16. Thanks for the report! I'm tying soft hackles like crazy now because I have read how well they work. Last week Partridge and Yellow was the ticket I read. I wonder if they work in the winter???
  17. flyfishmaster Sounds like a great time! What is a Size 22 buckskin? I wish I could get down there one more time before it gets cold!!
  18. That would be great. It sounds like I need to tie some and learn to fish them! I did find this page http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/f...101402fotw.html
  19. Any pics? I did terrible thurs. the 11th but I forgot to try a yellow soft hackle. I need to tie some. Any other colors work there well?
  20. Thanks for the info. I'm heading down early Thursday.
  21. Glad you guys like the pics. They make me want to be on the stream! I'll have to check my shedule but I might be able to get down one of those days in oct. Maybe I can take off that fri. the 12th and head down to fish. I'll let you know if I can and get your number or something. I would love to make the casting clinic the 11th. I'll keep in touch on this forum. Take care. Does the casting clinic cost or anything?
  22. Sounds good to me. I have a 99 Red Honda Civic. Should be there at 9 or 9:30.
  23. Anyone else coming down from Kansas City?
  24. I say high noon in the Restaurant parking lot. I'm trying to plan this now but it should work. I can take off wed. and be down there by 8:00 and head back that evening. Sweeeet! Only 3 hours from KC.
  25. I just found this thread. I just registered on this site so I'm a newbee. Been fly fishing off and on most my life but have a lot to learn. I would love to come down wed the 19th and meet some of the guys! Is there a place people meet or something at a certain time?
